Here's the deal. I spent hours prepping my new body for paint. I washed it out really good and bought some Pactra masking tape to put on some basic lines throughout the body. Also I'm using the Pactra paint for the Lexan bodies. Well the problem is the paint bled through, bled under and bled at the joints of the tape. Yes, It's my first paint job. I followed the directions with the paint, body and the Pactra Tape. Someone please help before I blown a gasket and through the $33.00 body away. Thanks.............

You don't ever have to throw a body away. Just use it as a basher body.

As far as it bleeding through, is that paint made for polycarbonate? The PS series Tamiya is. I have never used Pactra

Yeah, this Pactra is made buy Testors and my lhs guy said its the best paint out there for the car bodies. Both of my lhs' had the Tamiya paint but not much of a selection. I guess the Pactra is the paint of the North country. As for a basher body, thats what the original bodies for. OK, I can have two for bashing.

you could always use brake cleaner to remove the paint and start over if you were worried about it...I read a thread on here somewhere about it...

brake cleaner kind of dulls the lexan, use DA and let it soak for a while then rub off the paint. alos as far as bleeding, i felt tape led to much more bleeding then liquid mask, try lisquid mask next time qworks way better

:duh: Brake fluid (DOT 3) does not dull or whiten the plastic. but the etching affect of the paints do. (DA)= Denatured alcohol? +1 on the liquid mask.

I love pactra paints but hate testors. So if testors makes it, they out did themselves on that one !

the pactra paints come off with denatured alcohole, it gets soft and you can rub it off leaving a good finish on the lexan still, never tried brake fluid so cant help there
