Blew the rear diff

Locking diffs cause other issues. If your blowing spider gears inside the diff cup, then a locker will solve that, but if your blowing the ring/pinion gear, a locker will just make that worse.

The X doesn't allow for a lot of shimming as the case fits pretty tight, but you may be able to put a shim behind the pinion and a shim on the outside of the ring gear bearing to remove a bit of gear lash between the ring and pinion.

rc4me.us has BP ring gears and pinions. I don't think they are "HPI" parts, but they have to be better than the old non-BP diffs.

I'm pretty sure the whole diff that they sell uses the larger super hd cups. I don't know what you have on your truck, but if you have the standard dog bones, then you won't want that entire diff:

I have the super HD bones/cups on my flux and X. My X didn't come with them, but my flux did.

Also, the way HPI designed the cup output, they have the ID of the bearing that goes on it be larger, so the bearing is less durable since the OD is the same as the other bearing, 10x16 I think vs 8x16. The 10x16 bearing has a tendency to die in a short time which when it goes bad, it will cause your mesh to become sloppy and then tear up the ring/pinion.

That should take care of your issue once you get the bp diff gears put in and shimmer. My x 4.6 now a powered by a castle creations mmx combo system has stock diffs and never had any problems with them.
