So i'm sure that this has been debated multiple times before but i've done a mild search and don't always seem to find the answer i'm looking for.

Obviously, HPI Big Bore or LST shocks

I'm trying to figure out what is going to be best for bashing but yet something that isn't going to make my truck look like a bouncy ball.

I'm doing a ground up build, so shocks seem pretty important, give me any feedback or information that would be useable.

thanks again and sorry for the millionth thread...lol

My LST shocks are great. They aren't bouncy, but they aren't really stiff on landings. I have mine with 50/60 wt oil and they are perfect. I have no experience with BB's, but I hear they are great. For a basher, I would recommend the Big Bores just because LST shocks are really heavy. I've heard they perform the same too.

the big bores don't have the bounce like the lst but there are different springs you can get to help with the problem and also the valving helps as well but it really comes down to preference in all honesty and wat kind of bashing you want to do.

i say big bores all the way. nothing can compare to them to me....but that 's MY opinion. haven't had one lick of trouble with mine as of yet. the first pair i had leaked....but when i was about to deliver the truck to the post office to be shipped.....i notice the bottom of the shock wasn't on tight. this is the only problem i've EVER have with the big bores (titanium shaft). haven't tried the flux big bores but i guess they would be okay shocks also.

I personally would go with LST's. Are they heavier? Yes. Do they cost more and need a kit to fit the on the savage? Yes. Are they awesome? Yes. For me I like the look of LST's so much better than BB's. But it really all comes down to your preference.......well that and your bank account. 😉

I just scored 4 LST XXL plastic shocks for $33 shipped to Canada. When everyone says the lst shocks are heavy, are they referring to the aluminum ones? The plastic ones can't be THAT heavy. I also ordered an Innovative RC LST shock mount kit for $42US, so the overall cost is still going to be less than big bores.

The plastic ones are obviously lighter, but still heavy. They will work fine though. My overall cost was also less than BB (maybe $6) but more than the sport version.

Well I like the idea of not having to do modifications for the savy to accept the LST shocks, not that I mind but yeah it'd probably be a bit easier with shocks that fit right up so I am heavily considering the big bores for now. They seem to be the favored and haven't really heard to many complaints on their performance.

I missed this thread. I have done lst 2 Aftershock and big bores. bash or race the big bores are a better shock all the way...
