I have been wanting to post on here for quite some time. I just have not done any upgrades to show off.... Until now! Last night I got in the mail my Big Joe tires and 40 series Wabash wheels. I have not glued them at this time. I will be doing that when I get some time. I was looking to just see the difference in the tires from stock. The hight of the tire is the same, but they are about an inch wider then the stock tires as you can see in the first attachment. Sorry for the quality of pictures as they were taken with the dreaded Cell phone camera :nono:

Nice tires... You know for a phone camera those pictures are acctually pretty good.....let us know how you like your knew shoes when you get a chance to drive on them.

Don't let the fact that your savage is bone stock deter you from joining in on the action!

The tires and rims look sweet, nice choice! Did they fit the stock 17mm hubs? or did you need to upgrade?

I agree with sunkenmetal. For a camera phone, those pictures came out pretty damn good. I've seen some awful pics from camera phones. I wouldn't be complaining about yours

Enjoy your stay and ask anything you require.

I will be trying them out this weekend. I will let you all know how they run. The Wabash wheels are 17mm hex so they were a direct fit to the hubs. The RTR of the X 4.6 came with both 14mm and 17mm hex hubs. I have only used the 14's to try out my friends Traxxas Chevron tires. I really like the tread on them but they are a small tire.

Thanks for the comments on the quality of the pictures. I guess the pictures are pretty good for a cell phone.

nice setup i have the same tires on axial beadlocks, they are a good bashing tire but don't do to good in the mud but grass dirt etc they are great

Magoo, the pics are great. have same sav x & want to get the same rubber but w/chrome rims. did you have to mod anything to get them to fit or just get teh rims & tires. sorry, i am very, very new to this hobby, but this is a great place for someone like me to find things out..frddyj

Well I was able to glue and test my new wheels over the 4th. I really like them. The traction that I am getting now is crazy. I did run into a problem though. I was running on a damaged spur gear (a rock got caught between the spur and tranny, causing the teeth get damaged.) so I think with the added turning force needed for the new wheels I melted all the teeth right off. so now I have to replace the spur. I took a pic of the spur but it did not come out well (bad lighting.) I will post one asap.

Now if I go with the same spur that came stock, will I have to worry about spacing or the gap between the CB and the Spur?

The stock plastic spur should be fine, lots of folks run them with hot motors and big tires. Gear mesh is very important though, no matter what spur you run...make sure you set it correctly. I use a strip of notebook paper between the gears andhave never stripped the teeth, except for the first one that came on my truck...I didnt check the factory mesh. =/

BTW....Stock or not, your truck looks GOOD!
