I am looking for a new pipe for my Axial 28rr in my Savage and I was curious what pipes you guys are running on your Axial engines????

I just read about that pipe on the buku site thats a pretty cool pipe its a little expensive though but a great design! Anymore suggestions ??

I was actually looking at that pipe and was comparing it to the Tsais hard anodized M25!! Anyone actually own an Axial 28rr with any of these pipes or any other pipe??

i've never ran one but i've heard the vantage racing exhausts are pretty good but still i think the buku's on top!! its like having 3 pipes in one!! you can adjust it for different applications like more torque or more speed and stuff like that so its by far worth the money!! i've heard alot say that for a inexpensive pipe the hpi polished is actually a really good pipe to!! then theres the jp line of pipes, the jp 1 is for wheel standing power, the jp 2 is a midrange pipe and the jp 3 is a more top end pipe and aparently now the jp 4 is out which is a little of all of the above just something to concider!!

I just had a bad experience with a Vantage pipe. I had put an Axial 28rr in my Savage along with a brand new Vantage pipe http://www.vantageracing.com/site/v2-images/images/ST180C-03.jpg there is a link to the pipe. I was cursing this engine due to high temperatures and erratic idle and really bad half tank lean issues. It turns out after sealing my engine rebuilding the carb with fresh o rings new fule lines and fule tank I still had these conditions. I then put the engine in my buggy and it ran great no problems at all so i put it back in my savage with the buggy pipe on it (kinda rigged it to fit) and tada the engine was running beautiful in my savage no abnormal behaviour or high temps. My analogy is the Vantage outlet on that pipe is very big and would not allow enough pressure in the pipe inturn reducing fuel pressure and causing me all sorts of hedaches. Long story short I use a Vantage on my onroad car but will never buy another product for my Savage and don't recommend this pipe to anybody. The polished pipe performed well but I like the one peice design not a big fan of the coupler and tie wraps. The JP pipes seem to perform awesome and everybody and their grandmother recommend them but I don't like the look of an upside down or sideways pipe I wish they made them to fit the Savages. That "buku" sounds awesome too but I wonder how difficult it is to tune?? I think I measured the polished pipe when I was looking for a pipe before i bought the vantage and compared my measurements to the "tsais M25" and the measurements were the same and its a one peice design so I may go with that!!

well, when I first got my Axial .28, I asked around on here, and at the time (no idea what happene to him) one of the mods was the on-site Axial guru...he's the one that pointed me to the THS pipe...said he tried several different pipes, and like the THS one the best...

I ran a RR once and never got it to work worth a crap. Never found a pipe to help or tanks or anything I went threw everything atleast twice. I contacted the worthless Axial Support team who I fought with for days i finally got them to take a look at the engine and they replaced everything prety much other than the crankcase and the cooling head and trying to blame it on me. I did some measuring finding that the crank wasnt made to an acceptable tolorance which lead to major oil leakage from front of engine. Once I recieved the 95% Fresh motor back I sold it due to the lack of support and mistreatment. I will not purchase new Axial again. Moral of the story I didnt get a pipe to run good, I tryed the THS, Vangate, Stocker, Fantom racing pipe, Skyline pipe and a Tsais pipe no luck.

What was the engine doing along with the front bearing leaking? High Tems? Running Lean? Inconsistant tuning??

I am not suprised I have heard alot of stories about these engines. The first time I started my engine to break it in it ran good cause my settings were so rich but the temps got in the 200's quite fast for how rich it was running I was a little curious why. As I leaned it out it ran faster and faster but the temps were uncontrolable regardless of how rich i set it, it always ran hot. I was convinced I had an air leak after tons of hedaches sealing the engine (which I did before installing it when it was new) rebuilding the carb different tanks fuel lines all the commonm stuff nothing was working till I put it in my buggy and it ran great. I put it back in the savage with the buggy pipe and it runs great it was like night and day like a totally different engine. The last thing I thought that may be the cause of the problem was the pipe but thats the ONLY changed variable between the two vehicles. I have owned and tuned over a handfull of engines and never had one that was so picky and a pain in the !$#. I never had any problems with the front bearing or any leaks and I am lucky with all that lean running the engine still has some pinch. What I can say is it reallly moves the Savage. The torque is pretty impressive and top end is pretty nice too with the high speed third gear its gone!!! When its running the way it should it flies!!!

Thats what I was thinking I like the "hard anodized" look better then the polished look polished is nice but gets dull quickly!! I guess nobody is running any of these pipes as there is lack of input from anybody!

Thanks for nothing guys 152 views and barely any input!! Thanks again I will choose on my own! Peace

Easy buddy. Most guys here wont or haven't use the axial RR's So this means they cant really help you chouse the best pipe for this engine. If they refer a pipe it will be the BUKU as its probably the best pipe out there if you have the money.

We don't need actions like this.:duh:

hold on there sport, larsenracing is correct i've only heard of a couple people here stating there running the axial 28rr alot are running the spec 1 which doesnt seem to have the problems that the rr does so maybe people just didnt have the facts to post.. we are all here to help and try our best to do so but i think i can speak for most here at the forum that were all still learning in a way as i know i've learned alot of things here that i didnt know before!! its a great place to turn to for help in my opinion ... "but were not perfect!!" lol

P.S... i know for me personally if i don't know alot on a certain topic here i don't post as i may wind up looking like a idiot!! lol

No input? I see a lot of responses from the same day thread was started!
As far as what type of finish on the pipe I think thats a personal preference question that you will have to decide on your own buddy!

Dave

Ya I will decide on my own "buddy" I didnt say anything bad I was just commenting on the lack of input on these pipes or pipes in general I am sure everyone on this site owns a truck with a pipe on it so anybodys opinion would have been nice i didnt need personal experiences with these particular pipes just an opinion. don't act like i swore at anybody or shot someone I did have a point what I said was facts out of 152 views there were only about 3 opinions. Relax guys I will decide on my own. Thanks anyways

OK "buddy".
I have a Tasis pipe that I ran on the stock 4.1 and a SH 2.8 and plan on running it with my new Axial 1s-so far I love it and I will let you know how it works on the Axial but it will be a week or so-sorry for the delay.
