I took some pics of my Axial 28 RR before I sealed it up and forgot to post them for you guys to check out. First off I apologize for the pics, the mill was so shiney and the lazer focus on my camera wouldn't lock in on the mill. I had to focus on something else and take the pics so that blurred some of the pics.

Here are the ones that came out ok:

Crankcase and carb.

I like the way the cooling head wraps around the button and the crankcase, I'm sure it will help to keep most of the dirt from getting between the button and the crankcase.

Domed piston.

Backplate removed, I know this is the one most of you guys wanted to see. The crank has turbo scoops and is knife edged but nothing overly aggressive.

I tried to get a pic of the ports BUT the sleave is just way too reflective to take a picture of, sorry.

I am almost done breaking in the Axial and I think it is a great mill. Very strong and easy to tune. The only down side is it also has the highest compression I have ever come across in the nitro engine world. Aside from needing to be the Hulk to pull start this thing everything is going great. I'll post up some vids of the Hellfire when the Axial id fully broken in.

Yeah I really like this engine allot vids should be good. How many tanks have you put through it?

I am just shy of the one gallon mark right now. I have another 1/2 gallon to do untill I am satisfied with the break in, the pinch is still on the tight side.

I usually don't go by tanks of fuel to determine if the mill is broken in yet. I check the pinch often and make my determinations from that.

Nice thread, DS
Ya can't complain about a tight pinch.IMO.
It reflects an indication to a long life of good proformance , if you ask me.

A heat gun might come in handy until it's broke-in.

Keep up the 1 1/2 gal. break-in and show us the vids, bro.
Good job. Whats the price on the RR again?

Thanks DS,
What made you deside that you wanted an Axail?
I ask this because I know that you have a new STS or two and out side of the carb issues you had, I figured that for the money, the STS is what you might preffer,

I love my STS don't get me wrong, BUT I have seen the Axial .28 Spec1 and the STS D28M run together and there isn't that big of a difference in power betwen the two that I saw < I just covered my butt from all the STS D28M owners :moon:

I would most likely never buy the standard Axial .28 because I already have the K4.6 which is almost the same mill, diff piston & sleave make more power in the Axial.

The Axial .28 RR on the other hand made me curious. Axial just didn't do a buff job on the sleave and scoop the crank, the .28RR is completely different.

Axial .28 Spec 1 RR parts that are not made for the standard .28 spec 1;

AX1090 .28 Pro Cylinder / Piston Set
AX1092 .28 RR CrankShaft
AX1093 .28 RR Cylinder / Piston / Connecting Rod Set
AX1094 .28 RR Heat Sink Head (Green)
AX1095 .28 RR Heat Sink Head (Gray)
AX1096 .28 RR Crankcase
AX1097 .28 RR Button Head
AX1098 28RR Spec 1 Optional Turbo Button Head

Also the Axial .28 Spec 1 has a different bore and stroke than the .28 RR.

The .28 Spec 1's B&S is, bore 18.6mm and stroke 16.9mm with a maximum RPM of 36,000. The Spec 1 has an 8.5mm carburator.

The .28 RR's B&S is, bore: 18.25mm and stroke: 17.5mm with a maximum RPM of 38,500. The .28RR has a 9mm carburator.

I weas looking for a new mill for my Hellfire. The Axial .28 RR's specs fit the bill for a truggy so I thought I'd give it a shot, plus being a .28 makes it legal at my local track. Where I am buggies and truggies are limited to .28 CI max and MT's are limited to .30 CI max. Most guys at the track run LRP Spec 2 or Spec 3 mills, I wanted something different to add a little drama of "whats that" to the race :bling:

Man.. I love an honnest answer.. Thanks DS.

I was gonna ask ya about the LRPz28R spec 3's, but it soulds like you covered that abit.
For about $170, the spec 3 has got my attention.

It's supposed to be a great mill from the accounts that I've been hearring from. I'm real
bummed that I've had to wait throught the whole nitro season to get my spec 3 and I'm
still waiting. Oh well... thats on my end.

I would love to see the progress you make the your RR if its possible. You know... vids,
vids, vids.
I also miss those crazy *** jumps that you shared with us a while back.

Good Luck with her, bro.
