Any one using a tiger drive starter on a 4.6?

Using the tiger drive on a savage requires mods to the shock tower and for this reason I steer people away from it and recommend an HPI roto unit for most all :ercm:
if a person is adamant they want one , I do have several Tiger drives on other vehicles and I have been loving the convenience of them for sure...... Sullivan has one to fit just about every engine made and they work good if one gets the proper unit to fit......

I cant speak for everybody and it sounds like jam has had better luck than me, but ive had them on several traxxas engines and one savage 4.6. All failed.
Use the hpi stock roto start units, they are pretty bulletproof.

I'm just looking to eliminate the one way bearing. But looking like the tiger drive is a no go.

The tiger drive is goung to use a one way bearing too. The hpi one way bearing is very reliable compared to traxxas. At least in my experience. I have had to fix and replace countless traxxas owb. But have never had a problem with hpi. Hmm. Has anyone else experienced this?

You would need some sort of bump starter to eliminate the owb.

hmm, ive been using the trx owb's in my savage for awhile, and I always have to replace them. I wonder if there is a difference durability wise?

trx makes ones that look exactly like the hpi ones(sorry, don't have a part number) not sure what engine they're for, either. ill have to get an hpi one and see if it holds up better than the trx one's. the reason I bought the trx ones is because they're 13bux at my lhs, and the hpi ones are 18bux.

Big mistake. Spend the extra 5 bucks. One hpi will outlast 5 traxxas. I was replacing those traxxas owb all the time and the traxxas motor isnt even that big.

This coming from a kid who constantly bashes Traxxas stuff all over the internet, yet he buys TRX to save a buck, hows that for loyalty........
BLASPHEMY at it's finest........
