I already had the plastic tubing break at the base of where it's installed due to branches and bushes, my Savage XL landed upside down. I already ordered another platic antenna tube to replace, but don't want this to happen again. So, my question is does anybody run with the antenna tucked inside the car body or does that affect the radio range and response? If anyone has pics or info as to how they run their truck with the antenna in or out and if it affects the transmitter/receiver performance, I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

yea ezl, we just talked in shout so I'm gonna add that you have ordered the futaba fasst 2.4 & the antenna is much shorter on the Rx, so just bend it under your lid & your set.

you wont notice any difference with range or anything. post back & tell us how you made out after you run the Fasst system a bit. :resp:

Great choice in radio equipment. I run 2 and love them. Yes I run all my 2.4 stuff under the lid. I also ran most of my AM, FM stuff under the lid but you will reduce some distance with this. It is best to have it straight up but you will be fine. Like Frddyj said the 2.4 antennas are about 5" long where AM, FM can be 18-25" long so the 2.4 is much easier to work with.

You will be much happier with the new radio. This is in my book one of the best mods besides hump packs and a few others.

Thanks for the help fellas!! I can't wait for the new radio to come in...I will post pics of the antenna location that I will do on my truck. I'm planning to make it short enough to stand straight up underneath the body of the truck or I will just bend it underneath the roll-bar and use a tie wrap to secure it...like in the pics frddyj sent me!

I just cut my antenna tube down to about 3in and tuck the rest of the wire inside the radio box. I run a spektrum pro module in am M11 and I still have enough range that it gets hard to see in the field behind my house.

Here is one of my trucks, fm antenna out of the back window.
