Gents,

I tried he search function but I didn't come across with any thread on which air filter elements fit to Savage X

I'm new to nitro trucks, hence my attempt to learn from you guys:

Anyways, my Savage X 4.6 has this air filter assembly:

I wonder if any less expensive 3rd party elements fit to this air filter assembly?

Have you guys tested this:

Any other hints?

Some pictures of the dimensions of the filter assembly attached, too

thanks,

Artto

Unfortunately, not, I'm loacted in the EU, Finland. (which is a bad thing since Brexit, I'm afraid..). Basically any vendors within the EU are ok

You should be able to make 8th scale filters n outer filters work 👍

Can you find 87204 - just the filters?
While they have discontinued the sleeve set (87199), they are still pumping out the filters (and maybe the complete set too (87198) as I found them on Amain).

I'm in the States - so I have no clue as to availability in Finland, but I found them easily available via eBay and on several vendors like Amain.

Hi Ohsnap,

Thanks, these 87204 are available from a local hobbyshop so I orderd 2 pcs. I should be good with these. One spare filter ready to use while the other one is dirty or drying from cleaning.

I had bad luck with the Ultimate racing 533 dual stage filter element: they are just too small. See picture.

I also came accross with these wich seem to the perfect choice:

The trouble is the Motor Saver filters are not available in Europe and I'm not interested with the hassle to order them from the US with all the customs clearance hassle. Hence my choice to stick with the stock filter, at least for now.

I was originally going to recommend some Protek filters until I discovered that they suffered the shorty syndrome like the Ultimate racing 533 dual stage filter.
I was happy to discover that HPI still sold the 87204's, as I use the 87198's on multiple trucks myself.

I was also thinking that it would be ironic if you couldn't find them given that HPI is now a Scandinavian owned company.

Yes I think I'm good now. Thanks!
