Been poking around the forum for a long time and finally decided to ask a question. I have a SavageX with 4.1 and three speed trans (with high speed third). I'm thinking of putting a smaller pinion on and want to know what the advantages might be of running a HPI racing bell.

The first one I can think of would be that it is vented. This will help keep the clutch cooler. It is hardened so you should go with a steel spur gear also. Oh yeah welcome to the forum.

Yes welcome to the forum!
Vented is lighter and keeps clutch cooler as mentioned but I run in a lot of dirt and sand and vented sometimes allows dirt to get into clutch- the only disadvantage I can think of.

welcome to the forum and yes the vented ones are much better in my opinion!! as was stated above it keeps the clutch much cooler which allows it to do its job much better!!

Will the lighter weight of the racing bell effect acceleration? My current gearing is 15-49 and I want to try a 14 or 13-49, will these combo's fit? The HPI sheet in the sticky says no, but other places say yes. Thanks for the help.

Unless you run in sand (like Dave) than the vented is fine. The dirt/mud/rocks have never hurt my clutch.
