ived in new york for 45 years and was in nyc on 9-11 and have 3 people i knew killed on that day.i was about 2 miles from site when it happened and i can tell you this.we ,us,anyone that lives in the usa .we take alot for granted my reason for saying this is.we have days and times when we go to air shows for fun and on like july 4th etc.etc. but on that day i was walking home over the 59st bridge and to see and hear the f-16 figther jets flying over nyc and it not being a air show or practice.and those jets being armed with live missiles that were visible to my eyes was something besides the people that were killed .was something that we don't really see here in the usa.and we should really thank the young boys and girls that try and do a good job of making sure that does not happen every day.plus all those who have died in our wars over the past years and the ones who have come home missing legs.arms etc. etc. i think that this forum plus others like it should take the 11th every year and shut the board down for 1 day.just my 2 cents

No way Lenny~

We as Americans have to go on with our lives as normal not forgetting what has happen.
We should not shut down the forum or change or daily lives in anyway.
We will never forget.
We all can honor the fallen heroes in our own way, not create a standard.

I respect your idea and feel where you are coming from.

'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'

You say you will never forget where you were when
you heard the news On September 11, 2001.
Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room
with a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.' I
held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the
peace to say, 'Honey, I am not going to make it, but it
is OK..I am ready to go.'

I was with his wife when he called as she fed
breakfast to their children. I held her up as she
tried to understand his words and as she realized
he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a
woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been
knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said.
'Of course I will show you the way home - only
believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest
ministering to the injured and devastated souls.
I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He
heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat,
with every prayer. I was with the crew as they
were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the
believers there, comforting and assuring them that their
faith has saved them.

I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan , Afghanistan .
I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.
Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew
every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me
for the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath.
Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the
smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... this way... take
my hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.
But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You
may not know why, but I do.. However, if you were
there in that explosive moment in time, would you have
reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey
for you . But someday your journey will end. And I
will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may
be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are
'ready to go.'

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

God

None here will soon forget and I for one will not be silenced by men who wish to do me harm. I stand and say do your best but no matter the outcome you will never break me. You will never break what I believe and I will never turn and run. I say if they want to bring war to us than that is what they shall get. So let's stand together as one and say in one voice we shall not be broken, we shall not be silenced.

Lost But Not Forgotten

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

--Eleanor Roosevelt

I hear ya Lenny. I was in the Pentagon when it got hit, in fact I lost my desk and all the people I worked with save for a few. I left to go see a friend when the plane hit, and felt the building shake saw the black smoke billowing down the hall way the whole time not being aware of what had happened in new york. We all evacuated the building to see fighters from PAX River MD flying overhead.

dude.....i was in TX......i was just coming off being head NCO for 24 CQ duty....went upstairs and took a shower and was going to get something to eat....... and the first plane hit. i felt in my heart than something wasn't right and immediately went upstairs to put on some fresh BDUs and came downstairs as about 20 of us were staring at the TV. not long after.....the 2nd hit and the entire post when hot. full battle gear.....and let me tell we were ready to beat some serious @$$. i was a soldier and the way we felt....no one ****s with OUR COUNTRY. stupid problems between soldiers immediately vanished and it was ONE TEAM ready to accomplish ONE MISSION. i tried to call my cousin who works at the pentagon and nothing......i tried calling NY cuz 3/4 of my dads relatives live over there......... nothing. all i could to was runn out side screaming and i fell to my knees and immediately started praying for there and everyone's safety......and when i rose to my feet i was comforted by friends who all gave a hug and comforting words. man........funny how that was brought up and everything is still so clear.........but those that it scarred have not forgotten..........hell....that was one of the many moment that made me proud to be a SOLDIER. not only them....but civilians, fire fighters, all who were lost have a special prayer from me on today.......
