OK guys I have a 25 , a 4.6 , and I just got an XL. I can't seem to keep the oneway bearing in the XL working. It has the internal style bearing unlike my 25 and 4.6. Hpi has already sent me a new one and after about two tanks it slips so bad I can't get it started, which is really ashame because this truck RIPS. I am wondering if the oil content in my fuel is causing the problem. If I clean the bearing in alcohol it works for a tank or two, but that gets old real quick. I am new to this great hobby and am looking for some advice from someone with more experience than me. I have purchased all of these truck since January, that's how quick I got hooked. Are you guyds sure this stuff is legal cause it sure is addictive. I would really loves some input.

I'm unsure but id say maby too much oil content bc used top fuel(NOTICE THE USED) and the bearing slipped in a brand new LRP!!!! So ima switch tommrow when in go out for my first sealed engine run

welcome to the hpisf family my friend!! not alot have the xl yet but someone here might be able to help u!!!

A pullstart still has a OWB and it will still slip if it slips with the roto start......

like mentioned above, what fuel are you running?

I haven't had a problem with my OWB on my XL. But I'm running Odonells 30% Nitro, after break in i converted to pull start, the Pull start from the 4.6 works on the 5.9.....

Nope but it takes human error out of the issue and his 3rd bearing will last. Because if it wont start, he'll hurt his hand or snap a rope before he kills another 1 way bearing. I could go into rants over priming with rotos and all the issues they cause but I'll keep it simple.

The question should be does the motor start at the slightest touch of the Roto's button and never crank with out starting in a split second . If it does not it needs to be tuned better and the Roto is killing the bearing.... Not the oil. The cleaning of the shaft and it working is the byproduct of a Roto ripped OWB. Not the issue causing the problem. My mills start first pull every time. If they had Roto's they would start B4 I had the button all the way pushed in. Its ROTO/poor-tuning/over-cranking that causes this to happen. Thats why I always say pull start... it will teach one how to tune or hurt the operator and not the one way. But its rude to write all this....... as its insulting, but true.
The K mills do have oil issues! But if you treat the OWB right it will last.

Great post bank I agree with everything you said!
It can be way too easy to keep on trying to start with a Roto.
With my pull if there is a no start condition I KNOW there is a problem and stop! But most of the time it starts on first or second pull.

could be too much oil content in fuel as internal one ways have issues with fuel. roto get rid of pullstart is better rotos kill engines i swear lol. also are you running to rich still that can cause lots of oilo bulid up and cause slippage. can you please tell us more info such as fuel and tune and also are you still in break in?

Thanks for all of the input. I will try to respond to all questions. I am running traxxas 20%, The engine fires as soon as the roto spins if the bearing grabs, and I don't think I am running to rich. I leaned it out until I lost power at wide open and then I richened it up slightly. Hpi said I should try a pull start also. I think I am going to change fuel ( I am looking for reccommendations) and then install a pull start, they sais they would give me one.

Bryon's Race gen 2 is good stuff. I have run all 3 grades in 3 different mills 20% in my K4.6 25% in my LRP and 30% in my K4.6 HO. All were good.
Good Luck! ~Justin~

traxxas uses a different starting method. they have an electric motor with an overriding clutch (i think) so they don't have to worry about a OWB slipping.

byrons, sidewinder, or eliminator are great fuels. power fuel is recommended by hpi, but not alot of places carry it.

ya all i can say is go pull start because the rotos kill those oneways like nuts compared to the pull start, in one week i went through 4 one way bearings, and at 26 bucks a pop it got expensive fast
