Hello i have a question are they anyway by looking to tell the diff bestween the 2 speed and 3 speed by the case. i bought a savage and there is a 3 speed box with a trans in but not sure if its the 3 speed.

I don't think you can simply look at the case to determine which one it is. (in respect to a 2 or 3 speed)
Easiest way to tell, especially if it is a newer "X" style case, is just remove the three screws from the top and see how many gears there really are in it. If you see 3 it's a 3 speed. If there is only two, it's a two speed.
I may be wrong though, it's happened before, and it will happen again

No, the trany case can be use for both a 2 and 3 gear trannies. But I know with the older trany cases, the only way to tell for sure would be open the trany up.
