i ordered the wrong diff oil. I meant to order 50k but messed up and ordered 100k. I'm going to do the alza center diff conv. with 500k in center diff. I was wondering if 100k is okay for the diffs, and the difference in operation v the 50k? Or if I should just wait to reorder 50k diff fluid?

100k is kind of heavy for diff service, it will work but most times guys use 3 k in the rear and 5 k in the front......myself I just use heavy wheel bearing grease in my diffs and it works just fine.....

Well theres a baseline for you to start with.... the weighs i quoted were basic buggy settings most racers do use, your weights will vary to suit what you do with the truck
this is why i just use heavy grease and get fine diff action with what i do with my truck

I see people use a lot of different weights so I'll try the 100k and experiment with it. From what I understand from reading it should lock up the diffs a little more.

Yes the heavier the weight the slower the diffs are to react, but there are points of diminishing returns in this.... you want some diff action so the truck can still rotate in corners and such ....

Scratch that I guess lol I'll just get something lighter so I wont have any problems. It'll be quite awhile before I get to run it anyways, need to save up for my Futaba 4GRS. thx guys!

So all it boils down to is a matter of preference? I don't think I'll hurt anything then running it with what got. I have to start with a baseline somewhere, might as well be 100k and work my way down next service. Thank you everyone mind is made up lol.

Pretty much. I have found that the recommendations are for buggies that are much lighter. I tried the old school 3k 5k stuff, I may as well have had the diffs filled with air.

At the time, the diffs in Savages only had two spider gears, and mine were clicking. So while I waited for the parts to put the better four gear diffs in, I just epoxied it. At the time, a Hitec 645 was a hot servo, with a whopping 150oz of torque. So basically, I did big ole circles lol.

I think my next set-up was 50k 30k, but I didn't like that either. I do just bash.
