Listen to Frddyj, mate. Speaking as someone that was a diff assembly virgin, it really is quite simple and you guarantee it all gets cleaned properly.
Now I've done one, I reckon, with all new parts at the ready, I could strip and re-assemble in under an half an hour. I'm sure some of the...
Well it's done!
Thanks for all your help gents, I'd have been knackered without it.
I re-built the diff, changed the bearings, shimmed it, changed the ring gear, changed the pinion gear and now the beast is on charge. As well as the pinion gear missing 3 or 4 teeth, the grub screw on the...
86031 is the kiddy.... http://www.benracing.co.uk/acatalog/HPI_Savage_X_Suspension_Exploded_Diag.html
That makes far more sense now....
So I'm guessing there's a small hole where I can access the allen screw, eh Mickey?!?!?!:duh::lmao:
Thank you for your patients gents.. I just want...
Sorry Mickey, no pics. If this is still going on tomorrow, I'll grab the camera off of the wife and get some.
When you remove the rear diff, there is a cog that stays to the rear of the diff compartment. It does look like it pokes out of a bulkhead...
The spare cog with allen screw I...
Sorry Mickey, either our lines are crossed, or I'm being thick. Plus, it appears I made some of the last post up....
The spare thing I have has an allen screw on it to attach it to a shaft. The cog thing on my truck doesn't. It's a Savage X 4.6 RTR in case that make any DIFFerence....:duh...
Should it sound like a metallic cat purring when I spin one end of it?:lmao3:
It appears to be a lot tighter, but it makes a sort of a noise (See description above)....
Also, just noticed I have 3 teeth missing from the small cog thing that drives the rear diff (Excuse the lack of...
Thanks Gents. I would let you know if your suggestions worked, but SWMBO has got me on all sorts of chores this weekend.... Gutted.
Roll on the summertime when you can still go bashing at 8pm.....
Morning Savagers,
I've got a pretty standard rtr 4.6 Savage X (Secondhand to me) and I have a query.
Once you have started it and warmed it up, whereabouts on the throttle trigger should the revs begin to increase?
If that doesn't make sense, I'll try and explain it a bit better...
I believe it's a stock Savage X 4.6 big block engine. The one with out the flutes cut into the cooling fins
Thanks for the help, peeps.
So are most plugs a standard size then? I'm guessing you can get away with a short plug where there's meant to be a long one, but not vice versa?
It's a steep learning curve this Savage ownership business..
As a special treat for my Savage, I thought I'd treat it to a new glowplug. When I went in the shop I was served by a person who I'm sure was depriving a village of their idiot, but I assumed he knew more than me about these...
Cheers lads.
Now all I've got to do is find a tap on the sandpit and I'm sorted!:duh: :lmao:
The only other issue I've got is that the daylight hours are getting shorter and by the time I get home, it's too dark! Gutted!
Morning,
Just a couple of queries for this section...
How long should it take to start a Savage?
I've got a rotostart on the Savage X, and the rotostart says to only use it for 5 seconds at a time. So yesterday, it took about 8 attempts (4-5 seconds at a time) to start the thing. It...
Morning Gang!
Now I've got my Savage, here begins the onslaught of questions...:duh:
How long should the batteries in the handset last?
What sort of distance can I get between the car and handset before it all goes pear shaped?
I was out playing in the rain yesterday. Is this...
OMG!!!
This thing should come with a free box of mansize tissues!!!
Picked the truck up yesterday, mechanic bloke looked over it today and said 'Nice one!', started it up, warmed it up, had a play, started to drool, had to go and sit down.:resp:
Seriously, it's the dogs danglies...
Cheers Dude!
I pick it up on Thursday. Going to get the mechanic at work to cast his eye over it before I spin it up. (He's an RC nutter, although he's more into his planes) Then it's off to the local sand pit to see what I can break...:lmao: :coolkid01:
My first venture into the world of Savage and a couple of pictures and questions...
What does the 4.6X bit mean? I'm guessing there's various models of Savage? If so, where does this rank among them?
Does this look standard? There seems to be a hell of a lot of spares, do these all come...
Thanks for the replies. It all makes sense now.:resp:
I can see this forum becoming like that comfy old arm chair that you just sink into of an evening time.... Now where's my pipe and slippers....
I think I'm currently more excited about getting my Savage, than I was when my first...
Evening peeps,
I've just introduced myself in the welcome section and was told not to be afraid to ask questions....
So, not one for having to be told twice, first one coming up...
Why do some people have small cable ties on the top of their engines? Normally in each corner. I would...
