I also use blue thread locker on the nut... nothing quite like watching a pad and spur go up in smoke when the thing starts slipping under a heavy load. I have fried my way deep into the spur gear with a slipping pad. It leaves you a nice mess to work with. 8)
I might be doing it wrong, but I always just glued the pad to the spur and did not put one on the friction plate. I run my slipper nuts tight, maybe off 1/16th of a turn. Hope it helps you. I am new to these forums and have no idea how the other feature works. Hope this helps you. I do have five...
Okay, so it started out life as a Savage 21 or 25.... I installed a Picco P3 which promptly blew the differentials.. then I upgraded to the X series differentials, then I put in a series of three speeds, which apparently were not up to the task as the final drive gears keep shattering. Later I...
The only offset wheels I have are an old set of RPMs, they get pretty close with Bow Ties on them. Put them on XL axles and you can challenge a wide track Pontiac. 8^) There will be less than an inch difference. I have photos as soon as I learn how, I will post them. Bud
This is the only axle kit and it is standard width and here is the chassis length kit. Those new bones are super strong, I wish they would come out with the wide axles in a kit. I guess you could buy the heavy duty dogbone kit, then spring for a set of extended axles and spacers. I found it by...
I was aware of the chassis plates, engine mounting plate and longer rear shaft for the length conversion. I was not aware of the width conversion. I will have to check that out. Thanks, Bud
If you want that new Savage XL width on your older Savage truck, it is not as simple as buying the extended axles and spacers. The XL uses a much larger dogbone. The previous dogbones will flop around inside the XL axle. You will need the new axles, spacers, dogbones and differential outdrives...
I am another Dremel tool guy, I just use a pointed fine stone and it cuts through like a router bit in wood. A Hummer body, I have been looking at those, nice find! Bud
