That guy is no newb. I believe he can tune an engine. I saw another vid with the same issue.
With no coil, I would like to know how the spark is timed properly?
The main selling feature of this truck was ease of tuning. Fail!
So you have a truck that costs twice as much as a 4.6 and is...

Ran it a bit today. Still breaking in the new engine. They are a little stiff. They performed great on jumps. They were just a bit stiff when cornering. Rolled over a few times. I may go with a softer set of springs. My old LSTs were plush but bottomed out on jumps. These don't.
They are Tmaxx red springs/ Also Tmaxx colars and perches. I just used them on the front inside shocks so they wouldnt rub the tie rods. The other 6 are just as they come from HPI.
With the FLM towers, I had to make some spacers. I used ends off of some old A arms. HPI shock bolts to hold...
Mounted them up today. Had to make some spacers out of an old set of A arms. Thats Tmaxx springs, colars, and perch on the inner front. They have goos stiffness without interfering with the steering.
Ive dropped the truck from 6-8 feet and it does not bottom out despite weighing 15lbs. I...
This one weighed in at 14.3lbs with IRC std TVPs, LST alu shocks, alu chubs/knuckles, Chrome molly roll bar and 40 series Bowties on Proline dish rims.
This one was 15lbs even with IRC ext TVPs, LST alu shocks, alloy chubs/knuckles 40 series Big Joes and GPM alu bulkheads and diff cases...
Yea i did the same thing. Then the sickness set in. That chassis will accomodate a Big block or at least a Picco.26 Red Dot. Then its time for RR steel gears. Then RPM plastic all the way around and so on and so on.......lol its a disese. Must upgrade everything.
Just remembered something. Every time I started it, my radio was glitching like crazy. It never did that before. I blamed the radio. I even ordered a 2.4 to replace it. I wonder if I had a metal on metal rub from the start.
Another weird thing, usually rods go bad when the p/s wears out allowing it to travel too far oblonging (sp?) the rod bushing. Pinch is still good on this one.
I'm thinking something went south with the rotstart/starting shaft. I think something caused it to rub on the crank/rod overheating it. Just a guess, but maybe it wore out and wobbled causing it to jam. I just cant see what else it could be. Oil hole clogged like you said, maybe. It had been a...
Well got it apart. Few interesting things. Notice the nice brown oil in the case and in the bearings. Theres still some on the crank so it was getting oil. Better pics of the crank and piston too. Now the interesting part, look at the oil hole in the rod. It doesnt go all the way through hmmm...
Ok dug it out of the trash. I think the black you were talking about was poor lighting. In this pice the only back is right at the rod busing. Got a pic of the piston and sleeve as well.
better pics next post vvvvv
