My introduction to Nitro R/C, a Savage teardown and rebuild
Looks like a project! I would recommend a complete engine teardown and seal it with gasket maker everywhere. Sealing a nitro engine
You should definitely seal it with gasket maker. There are lots of threads about how to do it on this site. Yes it will seal the engine completely. If your engine has an air leak it will give you lots of trouble. Its best to just do it and then you can focus on tuning and runnng your engine...- fz1dave

Sorry but out of curiosity, why not use the 2 or 3speed. Wouldnt that be sweet? I know the electric motor revs so high you don't need it but has it been done?;)- fz1dave

Savage x 3speed transmission problem
I think your clutch is likely to be the culprit in some way however, your clutch may be fine. Try turning the spur gear gear to see if the wheels turn to rule out anything in the transmission.
