Hello all, thanks for all the help already so far with this forum. I have a Savage X that had the 3.25 big block, bought it with a jam pulled start so I was told. Connecting pin was broke when I took off pull start so I bought a k4.6 big block that mounted no problem. Everything was good with break in so far but it's like now that I'm on tank 7 after half throttle I get no response or it bogs out , It's all factory still I tried leaning out High idle trim and just using Trim on controller ... I'm learning alot ... Another quick question I have is @ TDC the pinch is EXTREME , I sometimes have to lighly tap the flywheel , is there a better way to free your piston? (
) Listen to it ...

I warm up the transmission holding it in the air and the after I put it down and get running I don't get more than about half throttle. When I start to tune the HSN it bogs out ... I'm shitty at multitasking lol but I'll try to make another video :')

Welcome to the forum Jared!

You do not need to "warm up" the transmission.... bring the engine up to operating temperature and when is there turn the high speed needle in 1/8 a turn at a time until it stops "bogging"

To add to this. Make sure that at all times you are getting a good amount of smoke coming out of that pipe. If you don't, it's a good indication that you are now running lean.

As to your TDC question, your pinch will slowly loosen over time. This is an indication of the wear of your engine, so be happy it's nice and tight currently. Tapping your flywheel is usually your safest way to push it out of TDC.

I read most of this already, as It was @ temp and idle'd good it was doing awesome. I started doing little laps and then tunning , when it ran out of gas I put more in it and I'm at 9 tanks. It pinched now, where the flywheel will spin back on it's own when lightly pushed to BDC and my pull start won't pull back in manually without bumping the flywheel. I havn't tried to start it or anything since this happend... I have a roto start I can mount but I like getting the feel of it first and hearing the sounds before I try to go "pro" . Thanks again.

Where do I go from here.. I have high needle tuned and just did 3/8ths on low needle and went back 1\4 ...

I'm usually blabbering in the SHOUTOUT BOX :D but here we go... Tomorrow my little beast is going for a tune up to a Pro guy with 54 years experience aka the guy I bought my K4.6 from. i just want a working , functioning savage , I followed engine manual to a T and I'm not seeing wheelies ... I tried tunning and when I went back to factory it seems to be running @ lower rpms but super rich , at least smoke is comming out now @ idle.... I didn't get to video no speed runs but I don't hear no 2nd gear and it's at least at 15-20 mph 10th tank screaming at 3/4 throttle.. Again I don't want to Blow this new engine or Kill Mr.Savage so I'll see what this Wise old man has to tell me . He has a name for like 23 different cars ... Was the first thing he asked me , "is it a girl or boy'?

letting my good buddy rip it while I make youtube $$$ lol... Still to lean you think

after going back to "preset" not exact factory but richer, I've ran laps, warmed her up good and then started ripping . Thoughts would be appreciated on where to go from here . I didn't go full throttle due to space but it was eat'n what I was give'n.

this is my idle, I've only been turning HSN you think I need to richen the LSN more?

I richened HSN but it'll bog out , this is after I leaned it . then I took the idle video...

Shark is correct, that should have a nice blue smoke trail and I see NOTHING at all.... go back to base settings and start over again...... least it did shift once I did hear that....

The mid speed needle is best left untiuched. The annoying thing though is that sometimes it can walk a bit, affecting your tune. The best thing you can do is set it to stock and then seal it so it can't move. I used the same permatex ultra copper that I used to seal the rest of the engine for that.

at half to empty tank it was hitting 2nd alot faster , I like having it rich for now till a "pro" can get it fine tuned and make sure nothing is loose... Again thanks again for the tips and things to do in near future

try adjusting the 2 speed to shift a lil earlier.... maybe it will work a bit better for ya.... My truck shifts about 30 ft out most times....

Baby steps , made it rich with smoke , was doing wheelies at the bash spot but when I brought it home and took these runs it was hitting 2nd pretty well. Input as always is Liked and Noted ! :D _o_ _o_

Sounds much better, maybe check that slipper pad, mine will wheelie on asphalt like mad so yours must be slipping or the pad is worn out.....

I took off engine , tightened lock screw, it was really loose. I tightened and sealed carb, lubed clutch very well. I had the mesh lined up perfect, started putting in mount screw fro motor and when I have them all in and thought I was complete I push my savage and all i hear is gears now... I losened slipper alittle but it's almost like my engine moved "up" and is really tight now, I retightened everything , took it off and on and still pretty tight... It was quiet and now it's loud, I'm afraid to go fire it up lol...
