I just got a Savage XL and i think the brakes stink. It takes about 35 feet for the truck to stop. Are there any better brakes out there i can get for it?

Thanks

The easies way it to upgrade the throttle linkage to the OFNA style one. Also replacing the servo with a more powerful one will help. The servo saver just needs to be removed.

Welcome aboard by the way.

Also, remove the spring and replace it with a piece of fuel tubing. I have the red dual disk set-up on 3 of 5 trucks (hadn't put it on the 2 new spares, yet...). They all have: OFNA mod, stronger servo, and hump pack. This is the best brake set-up I've ever had. No fade, always works. The Crazy Nut Racing dual disk wore out the brake pads WAY too fast, HPI SS dual set-up works fine for about 10 minutes until the pads get dirty or wet and then blah, the Innovative RC is the same as the Crazy Nut Racing.

I'm totally happy with the HPI red dual disk.....

before you go replacing parts, have you adjusted the linkage to try & correct the problem?

& welcome bro, if i haven't said already :jamout:

I will say one thing. if you are using the 4 AA battery pack, upgrade that first. I put in a hump pack into my 4.6 and it was like night and day. My truck also took like 35+ feet to stop it was ridiculous. But now with the linkages still stock and the brakes cranked down a little, I will flip end over end if I slam on the brakes. The hump pack makes the servos that you got work better.

Then if you want to upgrade your linkage and servos, go for it. The battery to hump pack IMHO is the first thing that should be upgraded. I went with a Reedy 1800mah hump pack. It lasts all day.

BTW Welcome to HPISF

Reedy 1800? think he meant 1600...

Anyways welcome to the forum! I have nothing to add the guys have said it all at this point.

good advice magoo, +1 to you bud. also, your gonna get more 'smack' out of your servos with 6 volt vs 4.8 volt

Thanks frddyj! It really was like night and day when I switched from the AA pack to the Hump pack. I think you are right Bank.... can't remember if it was 1800 or 1600.
