Hey guys.
Bit of an odd question here. I know you can replace engine internals (i.e., piston, rod, crankshaft, etc...) but can you purchase a crankcase (engine block)? It's probably not feasible anyway, but just curious.
I had a band landing upside down over the weekend, and the cooling head of my 4.1 (it's an aftermarket head, taller than stock) dug into the dirt and tore the engine right out of the truck. At firts I assumed it was just a broken mount, but closer inspection showed that the mounting tabs on the engine case broke away and tore a hole in the side of the engine. I sealed it up and stuck it back in with 1/2 a tube of JB Weld, and was able to bash a couple more times, but eventually, another bad upside down landing cracked the JB and out she came again.
I have a replacement 4.6SS to put into it, but I thought it would be nice to salvage the 4.1 if at all possible for a future project or maybe to replace my OS 18 in my little T-Maxx.
Anybody ever replace an engine block only?
