hey guys, I have a dx2 and I am aware of the built in failsafe but am a bit confused. does this failsafe that is built in activate when the batteries in my tx die or does the dx2 monitor my voltage in my hump pack and activate the failsafe when the receiver battery gets low? I'm investing a lot of money into my sav and want to make sure I'm 100% protected. if it doesnt monitor and kick in for my hump pack then what failsafe works with the spektrum radios?

The spectrum failsafe monitors your reciver pack and goes to the set failsafe mode when it no longer recives a signal for the TX ie- low RX pack or TX pack

the dx2 has no voltage protection only signal loss. So yes if the bat dies or the batt comes out = Over

Let me ask this then Bank....if the battery comes out then it loses signal......so wouldn't it kick in?

(Just speaking my mind and this is what popped into it at first!)

The Batt comes out there will be no power for the rx to use the failsafe and the servos will stay in the same position it was in before the power loss. My Spek receivers do not cut out on low voltage, the servos get twitchy or you will get a runaway with an open throttle cause there is not enough juice to return the servo to neutral. This is probably the biggest issue I have with the Spek's, for the money paid, there is no true failsafe built into the system.

Allan got that one for me...

This is where my elastic comes into play on my throttle mod and I accidentally tested it at the last bash. A++ my batt laid there in a puddle on the ice and my truck next to it idling... a batt monitor is all you need. I like the Volt watch. Or you can use HPI's but its a mess of wires..

yea, +1 cuz i was 1st to rib him about the elastics but sure enough his savy tossed the hump pack & the elastics shut the throttle servo down. too bad, cuz i enjoy watchin' a good run-a-way:duh:

wow. well thanks for the information. I just spend the last of my loot buying wheels and tires from skunk so for now ill just put an elastic band like you have bank. I will buy a failsafe next week does anyone know which one is compatible with the spek?

You can use any failsafe you want with the spektrum. You can just "disable" the built in one and use the 3rd party one instead. And like everyone said the built in one is strictly for signal loss, not low batteries.

When I contacted Spektrum a while back they told me any failsafe would work. I don't see why there would be a problem with any manufacturer. Just don't set up the spektrum failsafe, only set the external one and it should be fine
