Here is a pic of hops basher. This is just a test fit to check for issues. will post on problems and a lot more when I get the chance.

That thing looks sick, any idea on the weight as is? looks like it should be nice and light. Nice build John.
 
Heck I'm getting excited. Bought an XL from HPI had it sent to John so he could tear it down and this is where he is at. Nice work bud.

It's a shame he lives so far.
 
The shame is you don't do it yourself Brain... LOL jj keeps John from going insane... 5 kids UGG.. It looks good! I'm not to sure if I like that built in roll bar but other than that I cant wait to hear what john has to say. From that first post sounds like there is something to tell... I hope not but hes leading to something.

John, Just a tip I found helps on mine. The blue grove collars are easy to get to from the bottom threw the A-arm. I know my shocks get in the way of one collar. Just make it a tad faster for tare downs. Take it or leave it.. I also don't have RPM so I don't know if it works the same or not.

the roll bar looks like it comes off.

EDIT: if you look carefully, you can see the width difference at the bottom left of the roll bar, so it does come off.
 
I'm amazed that you can find the time to build trucks & make threads.... looks like a killer so far, i like the look of the carbon-fiber & am interested to see how it stands up to some all-out bashing...:resp: :resp:

real nice truck bud when you and john get your heads together there is no telling what you end up with.always extreme cant wait to see it finished keep up the good work lol
 
Modded Novarossi .21 or .28 by extreme rc mods. The other will go in the race truck.
 
Larsen's carbon fiber fit fine. There were some ruff spots but taken care of.

Good eye dread! I can see it now. I like it now that I see its two piece roll bar and not one...

Correct Bank this is the 3rd or 4th set made. The first was prototype second is on my savage and Brian purchased the next cut session after that. I'm glad to hear they fit well. We definitely have changed things and as Mega said there are a few rough spots on the first ones in the holes. We have now figured out better cutting tools for this.


John, How does the blue grove sway bars bolt up, are they a direct fitment or was there modifying to get them to fit? I have been debating on purchasing some for my racer.
 
Blue Groove sway bars worked great. will get pics in a bit.

John - shoot a pic of the under belly or a close up under side shot so we can look around and a peek of what you have done.

For the body I want to try out the traxxas Slash body. I like the profile of that body. It sits low and wide look to it.
 
those shocks looks sweet & tough, interested to see how they hold up cuz ive got big bores on my wish list....
 
I think John just told me he installed the Baja shock on the basher. I need to order some Yellow springs for a softer load. Like to see the difference between the 2 shocks.
 
That thing is nice! I would love to redo my savage like that but I want to put some money into my Slayer.

OK, here are 3 pics of the front of the basher. The radio gear is inside the frames and in balloons. Took me about 8 hours of test fitting and making brackets to get it done. O, and my 2 oldest kids helped the old man.
