Anybody got any advice for me. I am going to switch my 4.6 savvy engine for the 5.9. Hoping I'll have a little more fun.

by my own fault, I destroyed my crankshaft. I was ablde to get a 5.9 for the same cost as the replacement parts.

ya, for the money IMO you can get a better engine for less money

I love HPI products but, the 5.9 is in need of some modding to bring it up to where it needs to be.

I would try the LRP Z28 sprc 3
or possibly a modded mill from RB mods or AB mods

I agree with these guys. For the buck I think I would skip the 5.9 and get something a bit cheaper and had just as much power or more power. The LRP is a great choice also the Picco 28 P3 is a wonderful choice which seems to always get left out but is actually a bit better mill.

There's nothing wrong with the 5.9. Its just a thumper and not a ripper. I like my LRP better at this point but it will be in crashed hands soon and he is going to see what he can do with it. I don't know if its fact or fiction but I have heard BIG numbers whispered around about Dave from bukus testing on the 5.9. I have only a stock pipe on it and its still tight. I don't want to kick you while your down but for 240 your close to the #'s for High Q mills like the Nova Rossi. Don't ever pay more than 120ish for a rtr mill. I got mine in the 70's but on a risky move and got lucky... If your not afraid to toss that kind of money out for a mill look to the Italian mills for sure!

"WELL SAID, I AGREE WITH JUSTIN FOR SURE"

i have my eye on thr the lrp, but i see that larson likes the picco better. is it faster than the lrp, or just more durable?

I go bashing with a friend who has a 5.9 and I have a LRP, the LRP is the best engine out of the 2 IMO..A bit of modding on the 5.9 would probley give it the edge over the LRP..

Gator, if you are set on a 5.9, look on ebay, you can get one for about $180-190 shipped. Anything over that you are paying too much. If you only broke the crank and the piston and sleeve still have a good pinch, its only 20-25 bux for a new crank shaft for the F4.6 on the bay, for the K4.6 it is less than 10, then you can spend money on other mods. Just my .02, and good luck!

ya the lrp is a great motor as i have its twin "the xtm457 pro truck engine" which looks almost identical and has the exact same specs and man its a power house for sure and at $160.00 its not going to break the bank and now I'm on 2 wheels most of the time lol and it was a joy for tuning, and i haven't touched the needles since so it holds a tune great as well!!!
