Hi there. After i first bought the car the one way bearing started to not grab and just spin when cranking it over.I tried to take it out and clean it and then put it back in. It didn't work so i bought a new one and it's already starting to spinn.Should i put a pull start in it or what?

You have to remove the back plate and replace the whole starting shaft. Then the nut tightens down on the shaft. There is no bearing. The shaft only turns when you start the engine so the OWB is really unnecessary. I would recommend a pull start though too. Problem with the roto start is you cant tell if the engine is starting to bind due to flooding. The roto just slams the OWB trying to turn it over. At least with the pull start you can feel whats going on.

The shaft that the OWB sits on may also be worn out. Which would cause the one-way to slip and wear out pre-maturely. That's what happened on my old K4.6 that I traded to a buddy of mine for his .25. Back then I didn't really care if I had a bigger, stronger motor, I just wanted to go out and have some fun. He ended up replacing the shaft and the OWB and hasn't had a problem yet. Also, what % oil is in the fuel your using? That can also cause one-way probs.

You want the oil and viscosity.

I used blue thunder and my bearing was shot (Or so I thought) and ran like crap (Stalling out, wouldn't tune etc).
I changed to xpfuel, and it's ran great since.

Back to the bearing, I had to pull my motor and pullstart off, clean the bearing using wd-40 and nitro fuel, and then put it back in. Didn't work right either.
So I took it off again, flipped it around and grabbed like it was brand new.

In summary:
Don't use blue thunder, and make sure you put the bearing in the right way 🙂

It will only grab one way. If you place it on backwards, it will grab the wrong way, and spin freely the way it is supposed to grab. 🙂

So, mounting them in the right direction is key!

That's what I thought. That's why I questioned stevrock but I figured maybe the rainy weather or the lack of nitro fumes was effecting my thought process.

You can also replace the o-ring inside the back plate. This will keep oil from getting to the one way bearing, unless your exhaust header gasket is leaking like a siv. On the F4.6 I believe the o-ring is 5x8x1.5mm. It is the same o-ring that is used on the fuel tank mounts. I replaced mine and my one way bearing is bone dry now.
