Iv never really got to run my truck due to building it and money. So I was wondering if you was to race what oil did you use in th diffs. How does diff oil work? If I ran heavy oil does that mean both of the wheels work harder and will this effet the steering? Need some opinions. Thanks

This is what I have read and have been told:

The heavier the oil the less the tires will spin unevenly. Meaning the two front/rear tires will both be moving instead of just one or the other.

If you run heavier weight oil in the front, the truck will handle almost like its of rails. The negative about this though is that it is easier to flip due to going to fast in the corners and not sliding out at all.

If you run heavier in the back you will swing the rear end out and power slid through a corner. The negative about this though is you could slid the rear end out to much and spin, or you can completely under steer and go straight while you wanting to turn.

The trick is to find the sweet spot at where you are tying to run. I have actually had the best luck running with 5k and 10k all around. But am now trying 30k in the front and 10k in the back because thats the only diff oil I have lying around.

Yes you do. I fill it up to the top of the Second cross pin and haven't had any bad luck.

What you do to replace the diff fluid is the following.

- Take the four screws off and take apart the diff.
- Clean them out as mush as possible.
- Replace any parts that need to be replaced. Such as gaskets (Make sure the gasket isn't damage at all, if it is replace it with a new one).
- Put the one half back together that contains the gears. Remember shims
- Fill them up with the oil of your choosing. Remember to put grease on the bearings.
- Put the to halfs together remembering such things a shims, gaskets, etc. Also remember to Lock tight you screws if you have a Metal Diff Case. If yours is plastic do not lock tight as it can harm the plastic and make it brittle.
- YOUR DONE!!!!

I have a question about the oil I did a winter tare down and checked and put oil in my diffs I picked up ofna's diff-lock silicone oil with different weight front is 7,000 wtg and 5,000 wtg in the rear I found this info here and now all my truck does is ride wheelies to much. My other question is, could I have put to much in the case?

could I have put to much in the case?

Yes you can. You want to fill the diff case over the cross pins but wet the gears also. Don't need to cover them. IMO always replace the o-rings and gaskets in your diffs. Since you are replacing the oils anyways. The only time that does not hold true, is if you are testing the different wt. oils out for performance.
