Can someone give me pic or a link to show how they modded their roto-start to install a deans plug in place of the tamiya connector.I know i have seen it somewhere on the net, but can't find it now that I got one. I just got a new X 4.6 and all my stick packs have deans plugs.

Thanks

Well why didn't you say something earlier,Randy? Rc Driver issue 44, August 07. How to build moster roto start, using deans connectors and going li-po!

hey umm how many starts do you guys get on one charge with the original battery???

This really depends on the battery I mean you can get a 6 cell that has 1500mAH or a battery that has 4500mAH or whatever the case may be. Obviously the 4500mAH battery will last alot longer than the 1500 will. Another factor is if its new or used or old. It takes a few charges in a battery to be able to accept full capacity and old batterys go bad or don't hold a charge as long. Another factor is how many amps you push into the battery whale charging.

ya cause i only get like mabey 6 starts on a good day and thats with a 2000mah battery, i might be my charger cause all i have with that style conector is a 9v charger

I say do away with the roto start and get a Tiger Drive!!!

Drill for the win!

I still want a pullstart though, I don't know why!!! Its like all i have to charge is the Hump Pack and Glow Plug, and all I need to carry around with me while I'm running my truck is the glow plug, pop it in, yank the string a few times, and off I go. Beats carrying that rotostarter around, or having to take the truck back to where your roto starter is if you stall out, or etc. :dunno:

I have had BAD experiences with tiger drives on some of my other trucks. I'll push start it before I put one of those on there! :bsflag: Pull starts ar ok i guess but, I love electric start!

ya I'm gonna do away with my roto start when i move up to a bigger motor and ill sell the roto start to someone or ill trade it off, so if anyones wanting to call digs go a head and ill save the pm lol it comes with 2 batterys🙂 🙂

I went to a pull start.

Nothing wrong with my Roto Start, I just hate relying on batteries. The less I use the happier I am.

It's really very simple. I got my lengths pf good wire out and a new plug. Open up your roto, and check it out. It's basically a switch, a 540 motor, and a gear reduction. Un-solder the wiring with the Tamiya plug on it, and duplicate it with good wire and a Dean's plug. Reassemble the roto, and serve with an ice cold brew. :FarleyParty:

heres my fix
?????? :duh:

I hear that. I have heard of people welding an extension to the roto wand but with the extended TVPs there is a lot of room back there for a pull start and it didnt seem worth the trouble to modify a roto starter for me. Unless you race I guess. I do use it still for racing, but not with extended TVPs.

Hey Jp you missed page 1. It was not about the ext tvps. This therad was for adapting the deans plugged battery to the Roto start. It just went off topic a tad. But yes, I get what you were saying!

Imo in this case, I would solder the deans to the roto itself. Not make a adapter like the photo above. But both ways would work fine.:resp:
The adapter in the photo won't void any warranty's it may have. So consider that as well!
