i have a savy 4.6,i have read the instructions and seen the video that came with it,on the video the guy said adjust the main carb needle in 1/8 at a time untill the engine stopps getting better in performance but still having smoke but don't say anything about checking the engine temp, the instructions say check engine temp but don't go above 120 'c(250f),i was tunning it today ,2 tanks with wheels off ground 2 tanks steady drive 2 tanks blipping to full throttle for 2 sec, then i started to tune, all screws level with carb,i get to the point where there was lots of power lots of smoke it was going very good but when i checked the temp it was 125'c , the book said stop at 120'c,can anyone tell me wot i should be looking for ,the temp of the engine or till the car will not go any better,i am running 25%nitro r4 plug and live in the uk so its cold most of the time

are you saying it was like 120+125=245*C. if so thats way way to hot. If the truck was at 125*C you are fine aslong as you have a good smoke trail and aren't going threw plugs.

the engine was about 125'c but it had good smoke at full throttle, the book said to stay below 120'c,is there a max temp for the engine before it blows or is that 120'c like the book said

if your only like 5 degrees above the norm i wouldnt worry to much!! i go more by performance then temp!! if u say theres lots of smoke and its running great i would say u have it set pretty close to how u want it!!

they say don't go above 250 or whatever but i remember someone here has a savage that has a "sweet spot" at like 280 and it runs great with lots of smoke, i guess it just goes to show you that each engine has its own "personality" lol

No you are just fine at 125*C. I'm not fully shure of the conversion but I'm sure its like 260*F. I would say no more than 300*F. As long as its running good and it idles decently with little RMP change and has a good smoke trail and like i said your not going threw plugs you are just fine.

If you get near 300*F shut her down quick. If it is getting hot it will seem to run and stay at a high idle.

don't concentrate on temps you need to concentrate on performance with decent smoke, but keep an eye on them some.

Like Savageshaun said there is a sweet spot. In my stock F4.1 I ran it right at 300*F all the time as it ran good there. I also had 8 gallons one it but then decided to cranck the block. I took it apart the pinch is still good. It peeked 500*F when the block cracked. Ouch. I then decided to buy a new motor as that was the simplest as the blocks are $60 and new motors are fairly cheap and that thing had a great life.

see thats what i meant by every engine seems to have its own personality as my 4.1 has its sweet spot at about 230-240 and it wheelies like mad with lots of smoke!! lol

Also over time as you thoroughly break in the engine the average temps will drop alittle. So you're in good condition. Temps are really just a easy for you to see how your engine is doing. If it usually runs great at 250*f and suddenly your running 280*f you will know somethings not right.

Unless you are on grass. That can cause temps to go way up.

125 degrees Celsius = 257 degrees Fahrenheit which doesn't sound too bad from what others have said. If you are worried try sealing the engine if you are still worried.
