Hi All,

I've just spent the evening writing up my experiences today with breaking in my Savage 3.5 RTR. I've completed the majority of it already (with pictures) some details to add which I'll get done over the rest of the weekend.

The break in/tune up of the engine is far from finished but all in all it went really, really well today. I can't get over how well this engine runs so far, really cool.

The only problem I have at the moment is that the breaks are practically non existent. There is no breaking power from the servo at all. Adjusting the transmitter trim didn't effect it, I think I need to look at the servo setup itself. Any help/info on that would be great.

Anyway, my write up is here ...

I'm not sure if your using a hump pack but i found it helped a bit!! what i did was replace the spring on the brake linkage with a piece of fuel tubing which is just a bit longer, which makes it easier for the servo to apply the brakes!! my truck flipped over lol!!! so i had to adjust the brakes to calm them down a bit!! hope this helps!!!! if its from the servo then I'm not sure what to say!!

I second this, fuel tubing makes a huge difference. Adjust it carefully so it doesn't flip over, cause it will.

wow ... thanks dude. I do like getting things done well and proper that's for sure!

Also I think with anything technical it can be really hard for the very knowledgeable folks to trim down the info for newbies like myself. There is so much to know and keep in mind when your doing some things that it can quickly become bewildering. I know that's certainly true of the line of work i'm in (i'm a software developer) and even the simple things can at first appear really complex.

Anyway, i'm going to look over my manual later and get the low down on the clutch assembly and then take a gander at my truck and solve this bugger of a problem!!

Thanks for all your info crash, much appreciated.

Hes making my review look bad, lol.

Good job........You will love that truck......

hey fellow reviewer 😉

I'm already loving this truck, even though its developed a clutch issue on day two!! arse!!

I can't wait to get some mods and upgrades for it and wotnot, but right now i'd prefer if it just worked! 😉

That really is some great work on that review. One thing I want to point out though, look here:

"We just went through the process as per the manual. Starting with the HSN (High Speed Needle) tuned to get the speed and acceleration setup and then idle needle (LSN). My manual says that the needle on the accelorator linkage should be left alone ... so we did!"

The idle is next to the HSN. The LSN is the one on the throttle linkage.

Thanks chap ... your bang on the money!

I've just made those changes to the review. Thanks for pointing that out, can't believe I missed it!!
