Just curious if anyone knows where I can find a conversion kit to swap my pull start lrp zr.30 to a roto start setup. Still working the bugs outta my fairly new savage x with a replacement zr .30 and came to thinking a roto start will make it easier to start when it dies on me.

I believe you need LRP 38136 but don't think they make it anymore. Maybe a Tiger drive?

Appreciate the response. From what I have read I'll need to possibly mod my rear shocks with a tiger drive? Can I just buy a starter box and if so will I need to buy any additional parts to get it to work with the savage x 4.6 with lrp zr .30?

What are the distances in mm from top right to bottom right of where pull start fixes onto engine & top right to bottom left side?

Starter box wont work in Savage. No experience with Tiger drive but read that they have been used in Savage so best do some searching. Honestly think better staying with pull start.

Have used roto start pretty much from the off & when they were first available for my savage, with never any problems perhaps in the very beginning when lack of knowledge of trying to still start engine when flooded & broke the one way bearing!

Yeah that's basically what I have going on here is lack of knowledge, I picked up a roller chassis a few years back, threw a new lrp .30 in it, broke it in per the instructions and a few YouTube vids. What I run into now is hard cold starts and it will cut out after a half tank ran thru it and refuse to start until I let it sit for a while which I assume its flooded at that point and thought a roto start would help spin it over rather than me ratcheting away on it while these smug electric r/c bashers I hang out with buzz by me. Its sat for a good year now and thought ya know I better get back on the saddle and get it going again. I since purchased a new losi igniter, last one was a cheaper red cat igniter, and two new R5 lrp glow plugs. The book has initial low/high speed carb settings but I've found that they are off quite a bit, any advice as to a good starting point with those or any other words of advice for a beginner?

I'll get some measurements here once I hunt down a ruler, I'd love to crank it over with a drill to make it less frustrating when fine tuning it. Also am I suppose to use the igniter everytime even when it's been warmed up?

Yes g/starter needed every time you start it!
Having last been in this hobby the best thing I purchased this time round which wasn’t available back then is a engine head warmer, give it 20 minutes pre warm up with one of these & it fires up on first spin well worth the purchase!

I just ordered up a dynamite 12v head warmer. I think I'll try that, a new glow plug and new igniter and see how that works out before I spring for the roto start. One last question, when I am put bashing can I run this engine for a few thanks of fuel or is it something I need to keep running back to me and checking the temp, I'm just a little nervous I'll overheat that new engine and burn it up so just curious the guidelines on how long I should be out bashing it before I give it a bit to cool down. Thanks for all the help, I really love the hobby, love the savage x so I'm hoping this new setup will make it a little more user friendly. Lastly I've been running torco race fuel 20% any thought as to sticking with this brand/percentage or try something else.

I would say run a tank let it cool, then repeat as much as possible if you have the patience

Guinessdublin small world sorry about the roto start cock up, I did not check shipment before I sent the rota start to you, thanks for allowing me to give you a small discount - savabuy, next time you buy I owe you.

Very small world savabuy indeed glad you made the connection, yes no worries with all that’s wrong in the world right now the roto start mix up is a drop in the ocean, lol
Had the same one you sent me for over 15 yrs with it only now wearing out, so was happy to stick in the end to the original roto version! ??

I’m running the rotostart from my O.S.30
On my lrp30 Motor,
It’s a perfect fit and bolts right up,
Perhaps searching for an O.S.30 rotostart will throw up something on the internet

I’ve had luck with some SH parts fitting Lrp. I bought my last .32 with no pullstart only to find out all the Lrp parts were back ordered. After some research I used an SH backplate and pull rope. Works just fine. I even recently added roto start. The SH owb has already failed tho. It wasn’t happy with the roto start. Gonna swap in a new One this eve and see. Hopefully it’s not a recurring problem. I’m gonna look into that OS back plate and starter. Looks like a better option.

As for a starter box...I wish. It would take some customization to be able to start off of the flywheel. I was thinking of some type of lever/idler wheel that could lock onto the chassis( maybe on the side somehow and allow bump start from a drill with a rubber wheel on it. Haven’t tried to build anything yet but I’ve sure thought about it.
