Hello

I’m taking my truck bashing on the beach with flats and dunes. Is there anything I could wrap the shafts in so they don’t get covered in sand?

Thanks

I've heard of wrapping the shocks with outerwear but I've never heard of wrapping the driveshafts haha, not sure what you can do on that, maybe make a shield for them front and back on the a arms? Some tape or cloth and cover the front and back, basically tape the top a arm and the bottom a arm together on both sides you know? I think that should cover them well, idk what other good materials there would be for that, you need something flexible...

If you do end up using tape I would make sure there is some slack because when the suspension moves up an down the distance between the upper and lower arm will change slightly, hope that helps you out!

Wish I had sand... or dirt... probably tears up bearings faster, but at $1 a piece, who cares really. Just keep on top of them and use wax based lube on the cvd's/bone cups to avoid having it build up there.

Thanks for the replies. I was going to ask what’s the issue with sand? I’m sure I watched a video where HPI themselves were driving a savage in the sand. I always clean it down after a good run. I do have some grease in the cups but is there anything you would recommend wax grease wise?

I use white lightning bicycle chain lube:

Have to make sure to shake the bejebus out of the bottle so the wax disperses throughout the liquid. Also works best to use a straw of some sort as the nozzle is intended to be used on a chain that's easy to get to. The liquid is very thin like water, then evaporates and leaves a wax coating on everything. I've been using that stuff for many years on cv/bone joints, spurs, hinge pins... anything that moves that's external.

Out here in the Desert Southwest we drive on Sand all the time , just blow out your rig with air compressor when done.
As far as lube @olds97_lss turned me onto the Wax chain lube and by far its the best without attracting dirt/sand .
