So I recently stripped the factory clutchbell on my Savages 4.6 Bigblock and the parts just came in today to replace it. I have followed HPIs instructions on their site and viewed multiple video tutorials but I have gotten stuck on the actual clutchbell.

I have removed the screw according to all guides but the clutchbell isnt sliding off like it does in the videos or the guides. It looks like its still being held by an O Ring and a round piece with no obvious way of removing it.

This is first time taking this thing apart and I'm very worried since this is my first actual RC truck and the only hobbyshop in town essentially told me they cant do anything about install "since they arnt set up for nitrous trucks" even though I took it there like 2 years prior for service... Help?

that black part should just slide off, may take a bit of prying to get it to move but work at it and it will come off..... then the bell and bearings outta come off pretty easily.....

Thanks for the quick reply, turns out just needed a thin screwdriver to get it started. Again, totally new to this since I won this Savage XL as a doorprize at a hockey game a couple years ago otherwise I would have started with something smaller

The end shim can get kind of welded on there from the threadlock on the screw keeping the entire thing together. Also, most engines have a groove near the very end of the crankshaft for an e-clip to go into. That can catch shims as your putting them on/taking them off and be a bit of a nuisance as well.

As for your clutchbell, it almost looks like you have a standard bell running against a steel spur when you should have a hardened bell. I made that mistake once many years ago as well.

I was using a standard HPI bell on a tool steel spur on my big block t-maxx. I ended up running a hardened OFNA bell that cost more than twice as much, but it lasted forever. That bell lasted 1/2 tank of fuel! It was 14 years ago, and I still remember the blood curdling sound and spray of sparks!
