I continue to have problems with my dog bones coming out of my axle. I have O-rings and both sides they just never seem to stay in. I'm just wondering if there's another way to go. Is look a little pricey but I'm wondering if they could fix my problem not sure if they'll fit in my diff as they are aluminum.

Just put a 1/8 piece of fuel tube under the shock piston on all shocks , it will limit suspension travel and help the bones stay in
 
Those colapsing shafts look like you'd just be adding more moving parts or another weak point.

The factory dog bones should work fine, that is if they are the correct ones for the size drive cups your running , Is your billet a arms longer than stock.
 
Codered, do as Jam suggested. You'll have to disassemble the shocks and refill with shock oil. If they are stock shocks and have been used for awhile, the rebuild wouldn't hurt. My personal suggestion would be to use some automotive vacuum tuning instead of fuel tubing. It's alot more rigid and stronger compared to fuel tubing. The fuel tubing will compress over time and during use. I've been using the vacuum tubing for awhile now for both inside the shock body (tk make the shocks shorter) and on the outside to limit compression.
 
The only time I had that issue was when I ran the performance suspension upgrade parts. It allowed for more throw with steering and on occasion, the bone would fall out on the front. I got tired of snapping the inside upper arm bolt and went back to stock arms/carriers on the front and integy on the rear for carriers. Been fine since.
 
For me, it was the complete opposite. From the very beginning with full suspension travel, I was having problems with the dogbones. They would lock up on small jumps and not cause any damage, which I have to take the knuckles loose to pop them back in. And on big jumps, they would lock up and then get bent on the landing. That's when I decided to limit both ways of the shock travel.
 
Just noticed, your running alloy arms. Any chance they are a few mm longer than stock and are causing your problems?
I'll have to check that when I get home. I assumed the arms would be the same length. And you know what that means

What is the size/od of the tubing.
What kind of weight shock oil do you use. I've never rebuilt shocks before that's new to me

For the vacuum tubing, measure the shock shaft diameter or look in the manual for the size of the shock shaft and get the tubing that has an ID (inner diameter) that's the same size as the shaft or just slightly larger. And shock oil weight is what ever you prefer. I'll have to try and remember what weight I used in mine.

I used 35 wt shock oil and a 2 hole piston when I built the Cen GST 7.7 shocks for the savage. They are about the same as the HPI big bores and can use hellfire shock springs. I got them cuz they were cheaper than the BB at the time.

Those look like they are ready to pop out sitting still. Either your dog bones are too short or your lowers are a tad to long.
 
I think it has something to do with the FLM drive cups in the front diff. They seem to be A little deeper then stock. Hopefully I'll have time to look at them tomorrow
 
you can get hard plastic spacers in different sizes at the local hardware store to go under the shock piston so it will limit suspension travel, take a shock shaft with you and get ones that slide on the shaft.... they are cheap and will not be affected by oils.....
 
Snapped my left rear one clean off today but was hilarious trying to drive it in front wheel drive after lol
Have to be careful doing that. It puts a lot of strain on the front diff/axles and tires, especially if it's a flux. It's amazing though how little traction these things get without the rear wheels helping. Rear wheel drive can be fun though. Hard on that rear center axle, but cool to drive a big "stadium" truck like the old rc10gt or losi xxx-nt... well, if they weighed 15lbs and had a ridiculously high COG! LOL!

Haven't tried that yet but most of the time the front wheels are in the air so guess its like rear wheel then lol
 
Made a muffler for my xl went right from the aluminum tuned pipe to the opposite side where I mounted it then ran it to the back to a tee to look like dual exhaust pretty much made a mini glass pack straight through and makes a huge difference you don't hear it 5 blocks away anymore I like loud but it was just ridiculous lol but ever since I did that it runs way better don't really know why but screw it runs beautiful

Pretty much I took a piece of 3/8 steel pipe turned it into Swiss cheese with a drill bit put steel wool around it didn't have any fiber glass then put it through a piece of 11/2 inch of pvc then drilled a small hole in the pvc so if any oil or fuel collects in it it can drain works great and sounds good

That ripple pipe was probably one of the loudest pipes I ever tried. Made your ears ring and I hated it. It wasn't restrictive enough for my LRP's. I went with a Losi LST2 HT pipe on mine. Had to modify it a bit to work with the HPI header and added a solid pipe hanger for it to rest on so it wouldn't disconnect from the coupler, which also helps the exhaust gaskets last forever. It's a pretty quiet pipe.

just replaced my axle will take video but not sure if the sound on phone will do it justice like being there to hear it but will try
