I have been putting together a frankenstein savage I think most of the parts where from a 4.6 not sure though (I bought a box of random savage parts) I'm usign the kershawdesigns brushless conversion kit and having some issues with getting the mesh right, I'll get it in the end. I put a monster mamba 2 2200kv esc and motor combo in it (holy jesus it's too fast). I did a test run yesterday with 4s, I haven´t properly stored the wires nor gotten the mesh 100% but holy hell it's fast did wheely and stripped a small bit of wires so I had to quit immediately.

But how on earth are people driving this with 6s I am pretty glad that I held off on buying a couple of 3s's cause I can't see how that will work..

Also I found that the castle creations motor was "stuttering" on low throttle not sure how to fix that tried to calibrate it a few times but never got it to run smoothly on very low throttle. I don't have pic's or videos yet but ill post them as soon as I finish cleaning up and setting the mesh right :)

Whats in the frankenstein savage:
MONSTER 2 1:8TH 25V ESC WATERPROOF W / 2200KV MOTOR SENSORED
Spur/Pinion: 44/25
2x 2s 5000mah 50c batteries
TQi 2.4GHz Receiver
Savage Brushless Motor Conversion Kit (with LCG mount)
ATM the it's not XL but I ordered some XL chassis plates on ebay and am waiting on them as well as the wider wheel base axles.
Pro-Line Rock Rage 3.8"

If any one has tips on the stuttering and mesh issues i'd greatly appreciate it :)

Yeah 6s in the standard tvps is hard to handle you will find the xl tvps so much better. Since I did mine it handles so much better and its good on 6s but still have to be careful on the trigger :). For setting the mesh most common way is to put a plastic bag ie zip lock bag or a parts bag between the spur and pinion then tighten the motor mount making sure you can turn the pinion and spur gear with the bag between them ( you might have tried this ? )

No I haven’t tried that, I tried using a once folded post it note. But thanks for the tip I’ll try it tomorrow.

I really like the shorter version. It's twitchy to say the least, but I like how it handles. It's supposed to be twitchy, it's a MT!

Getting the t-bone rear skid/wheelie bar makes it easier to control as long as you don't pin the throttle all the time. Also helps make the body last longer since it doesn't catch the grass every time you wheelie like the stock wheelie bar.

If you get a program card, you can dial down the punch as well as the power usage. Might help the stutter, but since it's sensorless, it will stutter/cog a bit at low rpm.

Jeah I got a gift card for the adapter with the motor and esc combo, but that only works in the US :( but I might buy it later on. Is there any reason to put a sensored ESC in this car? Isn't that more for crawlers?

I'm going to say no, it's not necessary to run sensored. I haven't run anything brushless besides 4 pole (perhaps my micro sct is 2 pole, don't know), so I never experienced the notchiness of a 2-pole motor. My brushless revo, flux and stampede 4x4 vxl all came with 4 pole sensorless motors and they don't feel that bad to me. Once you rolling, it's hard to even tell the difference. I know because I recently installed a MMX/2200kv sensored system into my savage flux. At literally a crawl, there isn't any cogging, but anything as fast as an actual walking pace, I don't notice it being any different than the old flux stock system. I only upgraded because mine was the old mamba monster (blur) esc that wasn't waterproof and I wanted waterproof. Since my wife was getting it for me as a gift for Christmas, I just went with the MMX to see how it was. My most "cogging" setup is in my jato and it's the vxl 3s system I took out of my stampede. Even with it, once it's rolling it's not noticeable.

I don't know if it's the esc/motor or what, but the MMX seems a lot punchier even with similar settings as the MMv1 it replaced. I had punch control off on the MMv1 and at 70% on the MMX. I think that's actually 30% (limited by 70%), and it still kicks it in the teeth if I go full throttle on anything less than 3/4 throttle speeds. I only run 4S.
