Want to start a thread of people's custom parts, whether it be home made from scratch or a part you bought and made fit like bumpers, roll cages, mounts etc. I have nothing lol so I'll let someone else start this thread.

I was browsing bumpers for my savage and the ones made for the crawlers are pretty nice and steel. So I am going to make a Baja style bumper for mine since there are not many strong AND good looking bumpers out there for our trucks.

I think that's a great idea, was just at the local hobby shop today looking at all the plastic pro line bumpers, they have lots of choices out there now a days. shame non are a direct fit like they have for traxxas summits and such.

In fact the traxxas section is like a full 3 walls 4 rows deep even saw a pink section and pink wheely bar really, I said wheres the savage parts he pointed at a dusty small bin with all they had for hpi wtf hahaha

A baja bumper would look sick upfront, make two sets ill buy a set

Yep that's how any lhs I've been in to has been. Mostly all traxxas stuff, but can you blame them at the same time. It sells, and they at least keep producing parts, and vehicles.

They are all over eBay, but I don't really care for the look of them. Basically looks like a skid plate over the factory bumper. I'm sure it does it's purpose, but I like looks as well as function

This I do know also, but in the real world protection is the name of the game and these are some of the best you can get, steel or aluminum will bend out of shape and can actually cause much more damage than they protect things....
So with this in mind I do prefer to actually protect my truck much more than to bling it out with parts.....

I agree, but you can have a good looking bumper and it can function as good or better than the above mentioned bumper. I'm not out to "bling" my truck out, but to look good and function good as well. If you like there bumper good for you, I do not there for I won't be buying it.

Dug out my Savage 25 recently, in hibernation for the past god knows how many years along with my rs4 3. Anyway, decided its about time to do a mid tank mod. So my starting point is to relocate the T/B servo along side the motor and clean up the linkage. Now for the fun part..... I have a 3D printer so I'll be designing and making all the components needed - radio box, brackets, ect... Here's the first part, a servo bracket for mounting the T/B servo. I'll be posting all the STL files on Thingiverse for those who have a printer. If anyone would like one you can PM me and I can make them for you pretty cheap, just material cost and shipping.IMG_1022.jpg IMG_1023.jpg IMG_1024.jpg IMG_1023.jpg IMG_1024.jpg

Very cool harryjames, I have been thinking of purchasing one of those. What unit is it?

I have a Prusa I3 MK2. Love this thing! The newer version, MK3 is out so you could get the MK2 at a reduced price. Takes a while to get to learn what it wants to make a good print but once you do...

Well all done! Purchased the Ofna tank, designed and printed a new radio box and cover. I have not made provisions for a reverse servo at this time - maybe in the future.

I have and still do make alot of my own stuff.... My son and I built a Clodbuster chassis including all the links for my rig a few years back....
All started with some aluminum plate, channel and other alloy bits we made.... some 6.32 and 3mm bolts, nuts and washers and time with a dremel, grinder and a belt/disc sander from harbor freight tools...
took about a year of messing around, but i think it turned out pretty sweet for our first Clodbuster chassis attempt

Update for Double Tank - The Loctite Plastic Bonder fused the two tanks together very well, BUT (there's always a butt)
After running about two tankfulls the Plastic Bonder turned into something resembling styrofoam . So Good plastic bonder ,
bad with Nitro fuel. Have put the single tank back in. Still looking for something to bond and be Nitro fuel resistant. :wideeyed:

Do tools to help with building/assembly count?

Do you mean custom made tools for working on Savage / RC ???

I would check with Jam first ; As you know he is the M.OT.K.U. LOL
and he might have something to say about that .

Yup. And I don't think Jam would have a problem with me postin them, I'm an OG. LOL!!!

Here are 2 things I made/modified for use when build/rebuilding my RCs.

First up is the shock filling stand I made. Got a 2x4 wood base with some sheetmetal channel I made at the shop for the company I used to work for. Drilled holes for the shock bodies to rest in while filling with oil. Also great to let them sit for awhile to let all the air bubbles out. I need to make a new one since I don't need the big holes anymore for the LST/XXL shocks.

Next, I took a meat injector and used that for greasing the ring & pinion gears and/or anything else that would need some grease to help with wear and tear. Perfect for havin to get into tight spots. Especially if you wanna add some extra grease to the ring & pinion without havin to take everything apart. Just remove the skid plate and with the long needle, it can easily reach the gears. I cut the point off the needle and used some JB Weld to permanently secure the needle to the body. It was real loose and would work itself off.

I really like the Meat Injector Hack for adding grease to Ring & Pinyon, That stuff is like playing with silicone , all of a sudden its everywhere.

Rear steering for my xl. I did remove it but it was cool at the time! 3D printed stuff
