Ok guys I know this question has been asked lots of time before. But I need help identifying my savage. The guy I bought it from sold it as a savage x 4.6 but I'm not convinced it is because it dosnt have an x on the chassis it dosnt have quick access diffs. But I think it may be a 4.6 engine there are no numbers on the engine block it just says hpi on both sides. I'm just not sure which manual to download and do I need a different manual for the motor

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks Colin

Ya that looks like an older Savage .25 platform with a 4.6 put into it, I would say your best bet is to tear it all down to bare bones and inspect completely and upgrade as you go along....

https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/hpi-savage/

click the link and you will find a downloadable manual and lots of good info there also....

Thanks for the quick reply
Much appreciated
I was planning on stripping it but wanted a manual before I started. Is there anything on the 25 you would suggest upgrading??
Are the gearbox and diffs able to handle the extra power from the 4.6

Well the stock diff in the .25 was of the 4 gear type and if when you strip it down there should be 4 spider gears and 2 side gears if it has been upgraded...
If you are planning on bashing it the better 6 gear diff is preferable, there are many many upgrades that can be done as you go along, you can upgrade the radio tray to the later X style and also the bulkheads and other items also, as you will find there are many things you can do with the platform...

This truck has the same wheels as my Savage 21 and that motor looks like it is the same to.

Correct me if I am wrong but the savage 21 and savage 25 are pretty much identical. The only difference were better shocks and bigger engine both of these engines have numbers on the side to identify them. My motor just says hpi on both sides. The only motor I have seen like this is the 4.6

the 21 and 25 are pretty much Identical and i have both the motor on my 21 is identical to the one you showed. and sense its on a 21 Chassis my thought is what you have is a stock 21 with the savage x4.6 body
