I've been torn between the Savage XS and the mini Summit. I really want the Savage but my local hobby store is pushing me toward the Traxxas because he says he can't get HPI parts.

Is this true? Are HPI parts hard to come by?

Sorry in advance, I'm a newb and rely on my local hobby store for all parts and repairs.

Yes HPI parts have been hard to come by for awhile now, but don't despair they do say parts flow will be improving soon since I last e mailed them on this about 2 weeks ago.....

Contact info for USA Buyers, e mail or call for when parts may be available for certain models...

To ask a question in the US, please contact support by email [email protected] or call our service center on (217) 398-0007.

Every time I break something on my Savage I have not had a problem getting replacement parts. Ebay, Amazon, internet hobby stores and I'm the original owner of my Savage .21. Only upgrades are black coil springs, Big Joe's and other wheels and tires, dial brake pads, steel gears and a Picco .27!!! HAHAHA

Just got this response from HPI USA... seems the owners of RIPMAX do own HPI, but RIPMAX does not...
So with that the rep did say

Good Morning,

Whilst the owners of Ripmax now own HPI, Ripmax as a company do not. Therefore they will not be able to assist.

We are getting deliveries every month so you will see a drastic improvement soon.

Kind Regards

Seems that the slipper clutches are all gone here in the uk . And most other parts are down to shadow stock
I'm scared to use mine now until parts are more redily available

Here in NY, parts have been scarce for months. Spoke with two different LHS and both confirmed parts should start to flow soon as per an email they received from HPI.

Haven't been able to locate the HPI ceramic slipper pads until a few days ago on eBay. Found someone selling an HPI parts lot in Wisconsin so I picked up what I needed.

I walk in to my preferred LHS and the wall is overflowing with Traxxas and Losi parts; whatever you need.
Bugs me that I can't just walk in to a LHS nowadays and get what I need when I need it.

Believe me, I'm not against the Internet at all, but I do still like to go to my LHS and support them as much as I can. But I can't do that if the manufacturer is simply not shipping parts.

Yes cause if that all everyone does is go to the internet then those little guys "your lhs" will not make it and then the online prices aimed for the sky. So I also support my lhs sadly it's about an hour away.

you can find the xs parts around... as for the slippers, I found a losi slipper, I think it was out of a mini 8, that I made fit with a bit of help from some small wire cutters. its a thicker longer lasting material too. it doesn't shred apart like the factory xs material. I've had 2 mini revos, and the mini savage is way more durable. I put some 2.8 mt spec tires on it and geared it down. the mini revos were a non stop Diff blowing party even with the stock size wheels.
