I have an older savage 4.6 that has been sitting for a while. I am reviving it and want a new steering servo. What do you recommend I don't need anything crazy fast or expensive. I need good power and reliability.

Thanks

Well, depending on your tires, anything over 150oz is pretty good. My 985MG could overpower the HD servo spring in my revo and did fine in my savage as well. It runs 172oz.

If your on a budget, the Savox SW-0231MG is pretty good and waterproof. I run one in my revo for steering. However, I'd suggest a Glitch Buster be used with it as they like to cause brown outs. I made a cap/tail for my revo and it helped quite a bit. I should have just bought one of those since they are so cheap, but I wanted to see if it would help. The cap I found at radio shack is only 2000uf (vs 4700uf) which doesn't store as much power, but it did help keep the steering servo from twitching bad whenever I turned.

I don't really understand what a cap/tail is?

He is referring to what people call a "glitch buster". It is really just an electrolytic capacitor across the supply on the receiver.

Here a picture of a "professionally" made "glitch buster"

I had made it a link in my post that you could click on to see it.

If you have an open port on your receiver, you just plug it in and then when the servo tries to pull a lot of current, the cap supplies it for an instant.

I couldn't open the link so that's why I asked. On my end not the link. I understand what it is now.
