Well peeps, luck has graced me. I am in a position where I can do a littke upgrading. I plan on getting an lrp, just undecided between .28, .30, and .32. I am also getting some big joes for the savage too. Next week cant come quick enough!!

Lucky you! Keep this thread updated with everything you do and how it does for you. We always like build/mod threads. 🙂

Sure will. I will be calling the lhs monday to see if they have one, if not, i'll order it. I rather support the lhs whenever possible. It'll be friday when I get it or order it. I may call him up and see if he can have them in friday when I get paid.

I know the .28 is probably gonna have more top end from what i've researched, but the .30 and .32 will have plenty torque. I and back and forth too between trenchers and big joes. What do you think?

Ordering a wheelie bar too. The hpi one. I do too much jumping( and occasional tumbling 😉 ) to put an alluminum one.
One issue I'm thinking will come up is how will the big joes work with the tbone bumper on there. Its really wide and I'm worried about it hitting the much wider tires.

I love my .28 LRP. But with the big joes it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the extra torque. Perhaps split the difference and go with the .30? Unless top speed isn't a big deal, if you mostly bash, then go for the .32. Keep in mind too that you can make up for some top end or low end deficiencies with the right gearing.

Yep. I think I'm gonna go with the 32. About all I do is bash now. I live around 1 and 1/2 hrs from the nearest track. 32 it is 😉 I wonder if they make a nitro start backplate? I have the savage that came with the nitro start. Its a hex rather than the t-type that the roto start is. The collar couples directly to the shaft from the engine. Not a deal breaker, but id like the convenience. I like a pull start too.

Going pick up the lrp.32 friday. The lhs has them!!!-

May change up the gearing some too. I have a few extra clutchbells. Still running stock at the moment. 17t bell if I'm not mistaken. May go to a 19t or put a smaller spur. I'll see how it runs as is. I'm only bashing these days, so some big joes or something close, some gearing, then look out!!!! My awsome wife freed up a few more bucks, I may have enough for a new pipe!! Just gotta see what the lhs has.

I may do something around 19/47, or 19/45(if it'll mesh right). I want to get what I can from the extra torque on the .32

Awe yeah!!!!!! Just left Adrenaline Hobby with my brand spankin new purdy lrp .32!!! Cant wait to bolt her up and break in. Tires were out of stock, but he should have some in next week. Super excited!!

You will be very happy with that purchase! Get a vid of your truck doing massive wheelies once she is broken in. 🙂

Sure thing X. Man I'm excited. I am gonna have to order the big joes though, he was out of stock. I'm gonna order them through him if he can get them. I like to show the lhs the love when I can

K, installing the engine. I had to flip the carb around. Also, i had to loosen the hsn s9 I could move the fuel inlet nipple to the right direction. I just loosened it and cranked it back down. Is this the right move? I haven't sw8tched an engine in about 10 years lol

That's not unusual. Pretty sure I did that with my LRP.

Well, after quit a few foul words lol, the engines in. The flywheel was a HUGT pia to get off. Screwdrivers and channellock plyers got involved, it was a chore. Its in none the less, pics to follow soon. The trenchers should come in tuesday or wednsday

next time ya have to remove a flywheel from the :ercm: go to the auto parts store and get a battery terminal puller for the old type ends or a simple 2 jaw small puller and use that, works wonders and saves a lot of hassles

Jay f, I'm gonna give ya the benefit of the doubt and assume you accidentally hit dislike on my post above, not sure why you would otherwise. 😉

No worries. Mostly joking anyway. 🙂

It's a miracle I don't muck everything up typing on my phone.

Well, update folks. Got the lrp in. Spend a few hours and 3/4 a gallon of fuel, I did break in(heat cycle). Man this things a beast to say the least. After I did the break in, I did some mild tuning. About 1/3-1/2 turn in on the hsn and about 1/4 turn on the lsn. This things a land rocket. Oodles and oodles of torque too.
Well, so far the savage has gotten a futaba 3pl( i think), hitec servo, venom hump pack, lrp.32, hpi 17mm hex conv., rpm center plate, alluminum shoes, painted a shell, and come this wednsday, a wheelie bar and a set of the wide trenchers. Lots more to come 😉
