Hi all, just bought a Savage X 4.6 that the carburettor was kinda messed up. The carb came right off without having to take the screw and pinch pin out. Well had to end up using punch to get the pin out. Since I don't know if there is a sleeve on the inside of the block where the carb goes in, maybe somebody can tell me. Couple of pictures to show want I mean. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Ron

Well Ron , I hate to tell ya the bad news, but that block is now junk. the landing area is dinged all up and I doubt a new carb would ever seal on that anymore.......
Better off going with a new :ercm: and call that a learning experience.....

yea that was an f 4.6 engine, its dead

2 options
if the piston, sleeve, cooling head, back plate and crank shaft is in very good condition then youll need a new engine block with bearings and a new carb

i think the last option is what would work out best for you, thats to buy a new engine

Well was afraid of that. Just have to figure out which to do. Depends on the money I can buy one for. Thanks guys!

just to add, if you was to give that savage a good service, replacing worn or broken parts, make it a fun project for youself, take your time enjoying the build, then replace that engine, which i have just done for my savage, you would not regret putting in the work, these savages are great fun, were right here for you if you need help
