Can anyone identifie (or tell me how to) this motor? I ordered a 4.6 back plate and one way but, it don't fit. Note the back plate is some kinda composite. It is an HPI

well, if u can find the correct backplate, it would be cheaper than a new engine. how does it run and how much has it been run?
this I don't know I bought the rig from a rip off guy in prince george and have never had it running. The piston looks ok no scratches as far as I can see through the exhaust hole

I would take the head off and check to see what the top of the piston looks like. if u have to rebuild it, it probably would be better to get a new one

Since when is it less expensive to buy a new motor over rebiilding? The only reason nutjob could be remotely correct is that the V1 f4.6 is all but nonexistant now. I'm not sure if the V2 piston/sleeve will work, but it's worth a shot.

Throwing away an engine that just needs a rebuild in favor of buying a new engine is not "better". To each their own though.

Time v/s money I guess. The rig that motor came with was advertised as rtr and not much on it is wirth a pooo so I think I'll just get a engine. What's the hottest one out there?
Maybe I'll play with that one some cold frozen winter night when the wife says NO

Some say LRP others say a Nova or an OS , while others say an Ofna or Axial, I have had about all of them and am very satisfied with the Axial .32 that was in my Savage basket case, I also have a .32 Ofna in my XTM MMT which is a heavyweight weighing in at 18 pounds RTR and it moves right out... engine choice is like deciding on which pair of socks to wear to tonights dance... I am sure you will get many different replies and ultimately it is a decision you must make taking into consideration budget and availability.....
Good Luck and I look forward to seeing what you decide on doing.....

Jr. the K4.6 has the head you are thinking of. As has already been pointed out in this thread, this is a V1 F4.6.
