Is there something I don't know about hardened dogbones?
I'm assuming they are all the same size>123mm
but if the newer x-xss where 130mm and I used them would it be the cause to sheer?
same spot ..front and rear..sometimes crash related sometime not..
even snapped 2 center bones
sure I beat the thing silly everytime I go out ...but so does my buddy and he's snapped 1 in the same time frame..his is a .25..
just thiought there might be a simple answer and I don't have much time to search it ...thanks for the help:jamout:

You won't break these 304 steel. Been running these for over 4 yrs now and they look as new as the day I bought them.

RC Alloy

i broke one this weekend due to a bad landing and a problem front diff that had locked up. landed badly off a jump and crack! as the diff was locked the dogbone just sheared off one end.

give the truck a check over for any problems like stiff bearing, locked diffs etc.

what engine are you running and what wheels?

You broke one what this weekend. Stock bone or an RC alloy cneter shaft. Was it the front or rear shaft. Give more detailed info. Either way if it was an RC alloy the owner will replace it.

Ok - cool. I have heard and seen other members break break a hard HPI outboard bones. They just twist and snap. New Era puts out a titanium outborad bones super beefy but do weight in. TSIAS makes one called the X series harden steel CVD. Amain hobbies sells them for $55 best price I can find. I run Kippster titaniums and have been fortunate with them so far. Just more options and ideas. Thx for clerifying

ya ..I just bought 18 dogbones off ebay ..stock 1's ..super cheap ..here in canada they want $20 for 2 harden $14 for reg's..I found 4 out board and 2 center for $18 shipped...snapped em up ..
I did see some crazy lookin stuff ,but I figure the nubs are gonna wear at some point ..so stock up and toss em when they wear

the stock ones tend to twist, where as the hardened ones seem to snap, so you have probably made a good choice in just stocking up on the stock ones.

if you get them cheap enough they should do you well

thats what I was thinkin ...drive cups too ..I burn up to 2 jugs a week right now ..mega bash!
and stuff seems to wear ..wonder why?:duh:
I bend alot of shock shafts too

I find it's good to keep the truck as light as possible when bashing, when it lands it doesn't hit as hard. I bought 2 sets of the TSIAS X series one for each truck. They haven't had much use yet but I will review them later. For my dads truck I ordered him the NewEra titanium front and rear drive shafts, once again not much use but a review is also on the way.

I still think those $30-60 dogbones are a bit much for me ..they will prob wear and by not breaking they may transfer the load/stress somewhere else..

Wow...I bash like a madman (look at Jt's stump) and I've never broken/twisted a dogbone. I do however bend the heck out of shocks, or bust the ends of them all the time...
