Hey everybody. I am new to the site but I share the same love for the savage . we all know these trucks are pretty bad. I myself am sick of the nitro and would like to convert to "i know" Brushless power. I have an 25 with an xl 3 speed in it. is there any way to stick a flux tranny in it? or should I just adapt to it . I know Kershaw Designs has a nice conversion. but is there any other tired and tested ? give me your feedback. I will post picks as my mods get done.
Thanks Dan

Only thing that "I" know is that Brushless rules & your in good company here my friend, welcome to the forum.

Yep, the flux tranny will bolt right in directly. it is nothing more than a savage X case with a single-speed gear. i converted a Savage X 4.6 tran to flux tran with a $8 gear in about 10 minutes.

bob you should do a thread on your FLM truck. not enough people are doing this for conversions, and its such a great platform!

so I will then need the motor mount Correct? what about reverse will I need the module still or will it work with the motor?

Honestly, yes its possible to convert any truck to brushless....

But... i know many who have started to do the conversion, and realised its more expensive than just buying a savage flux.

You will not only need to upgrade the transmission but the axles, drive shafts, diffs, motor plate, motor mount etc... Unless these have already upgraded with the mentioned SHD (superheavy duty) parts, then consider just buying a flux.

I'm not telling you to do this. Just work out your expenditure before spending money doing a conversion....... The flexibility with a conversion though is that you can buy other parts like the motor etc that suit your needs...

Anyway in response your query... You do not need the reverse in the gear box as the ESC and motor already have reverse.

Welcome to the forum buddy!

yep. like josh said you would need a flux motor mount & motor plate modded to work with your tvps.

reverse is built into the motor/esc and when you convert the tranny you'll remove the one way bearing so it will give you reverse.

i personally recommend upgrading your tranny case to an X style "easy access" case... I open up the top of my trans frequently to see the wear on the gears...

Also this goes the same for the bulk heads front and rear... These brushless motors do cause a lot of wear on these gears and its nice having simple access to them. (i remember on my first savage 21 haha, that i NEVER really opened my diffs or transmission.. but thank god they changed the design otherwise it would be a nightmare for me opening up my diffs and trans as i do check them nearly every time before i run!

"j1a1h" Thanks for the info. I thought about the flux thing but the truck I have I got in a trade it has all shd dirveline. the diffs are all new. and its in great shape. I allready have a motor esc and radio gear it's just been sitting around for a while.
I don't think it's going to be big enough but Ill try it .
I had it on my esavage and I could not keep it on the ground "uncontrollable"
So well see where this goes.
