Ok I am stuck I'm pretty much done with my savage 25 build, my problem is that it seems I don't have full swing arm travel in the front like I do in the back it looks like my turnbuckles are causing the bind cause they will not move far enough is this normal, also I have the turnbuckles mounted on the bottom side on both ends. Normal?

Alloy turnbuckles I will have to take pix later I'm on my phone at work right now but I do have the truck here lol

the plastic turnbuckles allow some flex that aleviates the binding. i have read that the alloy buckles do bind. you will prob have to clearance the alloy ones to get full travel

got home got some pix

let me just start off saying that the integy HD castor blocks suckthey rub the inside of the wheels all the way around they have to be filed down, any ways in the pics u can see how much travel i have in the front compareds to the back when i disconnect the turnbuckles it will allow it the same travel as th back, plz help guys ive been building this thing for a month and want to play

forgot to tell you use the

shamus, mount the turnbuckle on the top of your hub carrier where you have it mounted on the bottom.

i see you have it under the ackerman which is correct.

should clear it up.

still problems

in the first picture the suspension is as far out as it is able to go with the turnbuckle on top like you said but the travel of the suspension is still the same as it was b4 if you look close u can c that there is no more room for the turnbuckle to pivot, now in the second and third picture i have the turnbuckle disconnected with the suspension travel all the way out and the turnbuckle will not even reach it is about an inch short

switch back to the stock turnbuckle. I ran into the same problem when I tried using alum. turnbuckles. And on a side note, stock plastic tie-rod ends are alot more forgiving than the alum. In the event of a bad crash/jump landing, if the wheels are turned, the plastic tie-rod end will pop off the ball resulting in a saved servo, where as the alum. tie-rods will tear up the servo. Trust me, the servo saver itself is only so protective.

I understand what u r saying but just by switching to plastic they will flex that much

Looking at your pics, your turnbuckles are the problem. Both ends of the turnbuckles are coming in contact with the hub and drag link, limiting the travel in the front. You do not have turnbuckles in the rear because those hubs eliminate them, which is why you have full travel in the rear. IMO, the ball ends on those aluminum turnbuckles look like they don't fit correctly but thats just an opinion. Try the stock turnbuckles and see if that fixes the problem. I have tried different makes of turnbuckles, and quite frankly the best ones to use are the stockers with a washer at the screw head to prevent them from popping out.

Hey man 🙂

OK, so let me comment here 🙂 Hope this helps!

1) The reason why you want to leave SOME plastic components is because they flex, where aluminum either bends or breaks. Worst case scenario, the plastic piece will take the hit and save more expensive parts. Think about a fuse - if you don't have a fuse, then if you short something out, then the house burns down - sometimes using plastic parts works in the same way - break the $0.50 rod end to save the $90 servo 🙂
2) if you are looking for faster help, sometimes there are folks in the shout box on the forums link above-left.

Hope this helps a bit - what else were you looking for?

This is a great place to get that sort of info - there are a TON of folks here who have tried just about everything (collectively).

Where are you from?
