I think all these mid tank carbon fiber race savages are cool and all, but if I was that serious about it I'd run a truggy...

I think the classes should be:

Buggy
Truggy
MT

But I think the MT class should be reserved for big top heavy mostly stock monster trucks. And I think the rules should just kinda be waived for this class, anything goes, just running into each other and trying to pull off a back flip here or there. A race for everyone to take out there aggression and stress from their buggy and/or truggy race, everybodies a winner type thing, wher eyou hear this after the race:

"Obviously Bob was the winner, but I did pull off the sweet back flip after ramping off the back of Jimmy's truck! Maybe Jimmy won't be trying to cut off half the track in an effort to cheat next time, hahaha" *drinks beer*

Making these trucks that competitive takes the fun out of it for me. Don't get me wrong, I like competitive racing, but I just think you should go ahead and get into a truggy if that is what you are looking to do.

I like raicing too, much more than bashing, I think this would just kinda bring it all together. I like being on a track where there is some sort of goal that needs to be reached... I just think you could have fun getting there :)

Maybe this would bring all the bashers to the track and get them involved too. People be running no bodies just cages or whatever, it would be fun I think.

Probably wouldn't do it for money either. Maybe the winner could get sometype of novelty gift like a big freakin sombrero that he has to wear the rest of the day, haha.

Entry fees could be reduced for this class, or maybe just waived if you have paid entries in other classes.

X2 Morphin Most of us have done these Race Savages for the following reasons.

1) Someone said it couldn't be done
2) Someone insulted our choice in RC
3) We Just injoy the build

For me it was all three. If I deceide to become a full time racer yea I will be running Truggy but rest asure that someone wants to start ragging on the MT guys the savage will come out to play.

P.S. No one in their right mind is going to say that a MT is a better racer than a Truggy no matter what is done to it.

hey, great discussion thread guys. i agree with ctd in that the MT's are more about having fun, hittin jumps, & all that.

3) We Just injoy the build

^^^ this was a big motivating factor for me, but also:
4) a race-built savage will outbash a stocker savage x 10

also, doing the mods we do make your truck run longer with minimal breakage so it extends the amount of run time you get on bash day.

combine these factors with us all getting more and more mod ideas from each other & the forum as a whole keeps us going.

btw- a good truggy will also outbash a stock savage, just fyi.

I understand that frddy, but you wont see a guy who has a truggy set up for racing with all his money in it go do bash sessions with his buddies.. more then likely he'll keep that for the track and purchases something else, we build our MT's to make the most of each situation.. :)

my crappy $200 Hellfire will outbash them

I started racing the savage because people was running revo's, lsts, ect. Decided I'd bring the savage out and kick butt. I also have to say that my truggy will outbash the savage anyday and all day long.

Alot of our savages are more expensive trucks than any truggy and we still bash the just as hard as anyone else.

What is with all the removed posts?

I kinda figured one of the main reasons that people were making savage truggies was because people said it couldn't be done... Although I really respect all of the time spent building and designing them (especially all the custom work) still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I'd rather just buy a $250 D8T truggy kit off ebay and go race.

I understand wanting to do something just because you can though.

You are going to have a hard time finding someone to argue that Truggies are not better racers or bashers even for the most part. We don't do it because it make finacial sense in fact most of us avoid adding up the cost of everything we put into them.

morphy got mad & somehow thought i was picking on him caz i said "my crappy hellfire will outbash a savage"

not sure what made him think this had anything to do with him personally as i was talkin about the topic of the thread :dunno:

but here is a massive hit that my Hellfire took with zero damage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW5Fxr3DFbw

i dare say that a stock savage taking the same hit wouldnt fare as well? comments?

excellent point ctd & i agree with ya, but i think we mostly do it for love of savages & fun.

if i get into race it wont be a savage (rather a d8 or d8t) but will continue to race mod my bash savages just for plain 'ol fun. :peace:

yea i didnt see anything that had nothing to do with himself didnt see no attacks at him

Wasnt anything like that, my posts were getting off topic so i removed them..

If u want to race buy a truggy/buggy.. if u want to spend to much money buy a savage

This is why MT class is dead and it is ashame.

To me the MT class is about making a custom RC and racing it against what others have made more like a race of science fair projects really.

MT racing.

1) Build a truck that will stay together for the whole heat.

2) Get the truck around the track cleanly

3) Do #2 as fast as you can AKA Driving skill

Maybe not as compettive as Buggy or truggy but Fun none the less.

I'm just saying, this:

P1020400.jpg

is not a savage anymore.

The only thing this truck proves is that a savage can out run a revo on the track, but it will never be as competitive as a truggy. Truggy/buggy class are so much easier to control, as far as specs go, just makes sense for racing.

I'm not saying there is no place for the truck above (and it is a sweet truck Sam), I'm just saying what happened to MT racing? Is this what it has come to, where is the fun in "racing" against that? I mean crap, it doesn't even have MT tires.

again good points. i also find it funny when they call a NASCAR a camaro or something like that & maybe this is a bit similar.

Gawd, that savage is so sweet!!

Remember that he also is not racing in the MT class, he races in the truggy class so truggy tires is acceptable IMO.

I was on my phone earlier when I posted so this is going to be a bit more in depth.

When I first bought my savage I was 12, didn't know of any tracks or anything. Then when I found out about the track I started racing, sure I sucked but whatever, I didn't care.

After about a year people was bringing out revo's, LST's, LST2's, ect. and was kicking my butt (Had a stock savage 25 at the time). Well then I started the upgrades...and once you start upgrading it never seems to end!

Upgraded after upgrade, it just gets better and better and things start to improve. Now I love racing, and myself the MT class died since the others wasn't going to do any upgrades to the Revo's or LSTs, they sold off and went to truggy. Guess where I am stuck with racing....That's right, TRUGGY.

Savage is a vehicle that will never leave my fleet of vehicles...and as long as they let me race with the truggies I will do so.

I would love the chance to run against Sam's Savage (Not that I have a prayer of winning Sam is a much better driver)

Still Not sure what your point is though. I see pictures of your truck in your sig. Wouldn't a Tank be a much better offroad vehicle wouldn't a Lambo be faster and handle better wouldn't a tractor-trailer haul more, Oh yea and A MT have more ground clearance and bigger tires?

Haha, yep, good point with the nascar, makes no sense. Don't they all run basically the same engine even?

It is a sweet savage, but still.

True, I guess it is just a personal opinion about how to modify your rides, rc or the real thing.

I didn't realize he raced with the truggies, I thought he had a truggy too?

My personal truck is kinda the mix of all those that I could actually afford, haha, well all of it except the lambo part, no desire to go lambo fast in something that heavy with no sway bar and huge side walls :)

I don't know the point I am trying to make with the whole thing. I just thought it would be a little more fun if the MT class was a little laid back and not so serious. I mean with the real MT's, freakin the racing is like a thing of the past, the only thing that seems to matter now is the fee style round, which is just all about having fun with your big ole truck.

I guess you just have a bad my class where you are cause here the my class is just that a fun class mostly kids and a few of the racers just out having fun.

A few of us are trying to make it a bit bigger with a little more compotition but to be honest I think the serious guys are just going to run them in novice truggy or something.

As for Sam he runs pro truggy with his d8t and mt with the savage but if there aren't enough mt's for a class he runs it in novice truggy.

I personaly started going race savage when I opened my mouth to a revo racer combined with the fact that my bash crew dried up. Now that we have a good bash crew again I bash over racing.

the reason the nascar still calls them stock cars is that there are many parts that are stock as like the rim/tire size is a 15" long with many other pieces that are derived from street cars but the rest of the car is built in shop. now sam's truck is still considered a MT do to it still has some factory parts but the rest is after market which leaves room for it to be called a MT even tho some ppl may think its a truggy and make it run in a truggy class but with that being said ill have to agree that its a shame that mt racing is rapidly dying do to the competitiveness between drivers and most are goin to truggy/buggy classes so it leaves us guys that have built a race savage in the dark because we now have to hunt for a track that still has MT racing which some ppl may have trouble doin so with many of us working our bums off to be able to have a little bit of fun at the end of a long work week and want to see how the mods perform in competition against other trucks.

eric....

I did that off the same jump with the carbon trucks testing them fred nose, butt, lid... nothing broke (mine were still running and on purpose). Where were you ??? FLM savage um no! Broke landing on all 4 tires ....

For the thread most tracks don't have MT class anymore so you are forced to run with truggies. the savage modded out can keep up but its never going to TQ and win unless your racing noobs

eric....
We were talking about why they call NASCAR's chevy, ford, or dodge... not why they call them stock cars. It is weird they even give them a make denomination since the only difference betwen the cars are the decals on the body :)

Here is the main differences when determining MT or Truggy status:

No worries Mate Wasn't worried about rules. Rules are for people with no imagination.

EDIT: Think I will put that in my sig.

...and people who want to race competitively :)

I like it for a sig though, especially the basher crowd.
