my friend has a durratrax thunder quake with a spektrum Z590 sevo for his steering should this servo do the job? if so he must have other steering issues.

You sure that's not a JRZ590M?? If so it will do the job until the case break.. Look at my build thread to see what I was just saying about them. Four servo cases later I'm done with JR servos.

what is the weight of the r/c car & the speed/torque of the servo?

I'm guesing arround 10 lbs

Specs

* Size Category:Standard
* Torque:70 oz/in @ 4.8V, 85 oz/in @ 6V
* Speed:.18 sec/60 @ 4.8V, .15 sec/60 @ 6V
* Dimensions (WxLxH):0.73" x 1.55" x 1.46"
* Weight:1.6 oz
* Motor Type:3-pole ferrite
* Gear Type:Metal"

ok, based on that, imma say that this servo is a bit weak for the application, imo.

For steering in my Hellfire (which is appx 8-10 lbs.) i have a hitec 645 mg which is 20/133 oz at 6v.

not a quick servo by any means & the torque is prob just about adequate, but i had the servo on hand & it serves a purpose till it dies. but when it does die, i will get a servo with better specs so it doesnt have to strain as hard to yank the wheels.

hope this helps.
