What tank mod is for me?

I want to do a mid tank mod but I have some concerns. I see that most people use a FLM extended tvps, but I would rather do it on the stock savage x 4.6 tvps. Also, I notice many people use generally small tanks. What is a decent size tank (200cc-ish) that I could use without putting my receiver on the side of my tvp.

To do a mid tank you have to move servoes around.

Feel free to look through my photo bucket. Most of the stuff I used for my midtank you can buy as well. I didn't have flm tvps so I had to use a little imagination and I also spent alot of time viewing other peoples mid tank builds.

Hey bro, not sure if your refering to the steer or t/b servo being relocated, but here are some thoughts:

1. you can def do a mid tank on stock x tvps
2. you can def do a mid tank w/o moving the steer servo.
3. i don't see how you could do a mid tank without moving the t/b servo caz you need to make room for the tank.

a few peeps have done mid tanks using a Hellfire 150cc tank, the correct Platinum r/c plate and moving the t/b servo to stock tank location.

hey bud the guys are right
The throttle servo has to move in order to make room for the tank.
To get an 200cc ish tank you will have to move the steering servo either under the servo plate or side of the tvp's
If 150cc is cool with you go with the hellfire tank like frddy mentioned

Not too many stock tvp midtanks that I know of, but here are a few
-Tank is only about 125cc's though 🙁

Hmmm...there isn;t really a set way of doing a mid-tank. You rarely see 2 mid-tanks that are identical. The best "tutorial" imo is Judge's mid-tanks build. have a looksee.

Can't beleive I forgot this one from Bruce's RC Baher site.
This one is a X with a 250cc tank, but the receiver is outside the tvp

ok, lol, this changes my answer a bit. if you change to ext flm tvps, you will increase the choice of mounting options for your Rx.

Members Baddasz_Savage and The Pope NJ have mounted their Rx pack behind the mill (able to do so because of the 1.5" extension on the flm tvps) and they were very happy with it.

Megabyteme mounted the Rx inside the tvp and under the mid-tank plate on the forum truck which was the prize for the WF long jump 09; you might be able to accomplish something like this with stocker tvps also.

I somewhat agree with that but are there other ways to fix mid tank lean with out sacrificing the tank size because that is all I am really trying to accomplish.

I run a 125cc Ofna tank in the stock location, and it works fine for bashing. You get used to re-fueling more often, most of the time when I pull the truck in to re-fuel the tank is still 1/4 full or so. It is also the only setup that positions the tank out of the reach of the upper shock bolts.

I used to run a mid tank setup, but after the front shock tower smashed 2 tanks, I went back to the stock position. Some claim that a mid tank improves the handling of the truck, and I thought so too, until I went back to the stock position and realized that it was only the placebo effect.

Almost everything you do to mod your savage is going to have a + and a -. You just have to weigh it out and make that choice for yourself but no matter what it is very few of them are cheep and easy. There is a good amount of wrench time to be put in on these trucks no matter what it is you do with them unless of course you just want a shelf queen.

I run a larger and longer fuel lines through the shock tower and down the back of the Savage. This eliminated my half tank lean.

This mod seems to work for about 50% of the people trying it. Can't pin point why it works for some and not for others though. But it only cost a few cents to try it.

Using longer lines worked for me somewhat but did not completely eliminate HTL. I want to do the PRC mid tank mod for the OFNA 250cc tank. It will be a pain the mount my T/B servo on my stock XL TVP's but I think it will be worth it just for the extra fuel capacity not to mention getting rid of HTL. And the I'll be set up later for when I want to invest in new TVP's, either FLM or PRC.
