Hi. One question. How will fit the FUTABA FASST receiver into my X4.6 stock radio box? I also have the charge lead and battery level indicator. It goes as the standard receiver or it requires some mods?

The Futaba FASST receiver is smaller than the stock HPI reciver so it fits with no problem.

The battery indicator bolts right into the radio box and plugs inline with the wiring.. its really easy to install...
 
I know about the battery indicator and charge lead. They are already installed. I was just wondering how the Futaba receiver will fit..

Here I go again with another question... I use on my Tx 8 NiMH AA-size batteries, 2300 Mah. For charging, I use a MRC Super Brain 977 Charger. The problem is that I can't charge the Tx through the charge jack on the side. The charger hust displays 0V, as if it didn't detect anything.
I read in the manual that I can use that charge jack with a "special charger" and NiCd batteries. This doesn't work with Aa size NiMH, or I have a problem with the Tx?

For now, I have to disconnect the batteries with their holder and then charge them with MRC.

super brain charger will not charge though jack because it needs feed back from batteries. transmitter has built in diode block battery feed back to jack.

super brain will charge batteries if you have a plug that matchs one on battery pack. I had a super brain charger and made plug for it at one time.

I do have a plug, whith it I charge both the hump pack of the receiver and also the batteries of the transmitter, after removing them.. I thought it can be a easier way with the charging jack, but no matter.. Thanks.
 
... PART TWO....

For now, in order to charge the 8 batteries, I remove the cord that connects the batteries to the Tx and use this cord (Connector: Red Futaba J plug) to charge from my MRC SuperBrain Charger.

But this method really annoys me. I know that if I want to charge the Tx through the charge jack I must use a Futaba charger with has no feed back, but I don't want that.

Now, I read that there is a solution to remove the diode on the board that block battery feed back to jack. But I really don't know that electronics and I don't want to go to a specialist without detailed instructions.

So, first question: where can I find some photos/instructions on this subject.

Second, I was thinking at another option. I was thinking to add a Futaba SWH13 Switch Harness & Charge Cord Mini J (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVSEARCH=FUTM4370&search=Go) and to use it just as the one for the hump pack. So that I will have 2 switches for the Tx. One is this one and the other is the main one. No problem if it will work or if this is a good idea.

I am thinking that if I use only a Y harness, when charging (even if the main switch is OFF) the current can still reach the Tx (sorry, i don't know how to say this tehnically correct in english, hope you understand my point).

Any ideas?
 
WEll, me too. I do not have a hump pack, just 8 NiMH accu 2300MAh.

1. Remove the back cover of the transmitter.

2. Disconnect the transmitter battery connector and remove battery.

3. Locate the Diode. (Viewed from the back of the transmitter, it is located in the lower left hand corner of the circuit board just below the charge receptacle).

4. Solder a small thin (30 awg) jumper wire across the diode, as indicated. Use of thin wire in this application enables to the jumper wire to function as a Safety Fuse. Be careful not to short the jumper to any components or circuit board traces in the vicinity of the diode.
5. Plug in the battery connector. Test the installation by plugging your SIRIUS CHARGE into the transmitter charging jack. The Green TX LED should light on SIRIUS CHARGE.

6. Replace the transmitter back, being careful not to pinch any wires.

This is one solution. Another one I've found:
you can buy a "Futaba" "Poly Switch" which you jump the diode with.

I have thought about getting packs for my 3PM's, but the alkaline AA's last for so long. It would take a year or two for them to pay for themselves.

thats a good point whips, i have duracells from last year in there now & they still register 11.4v.
 
I already had the 8 GP 2300MAh from my older photo setup, so why don't use them?
So, final question. Will the proposed idea work? I mean, if I put a Y split, when charging (even if the main switch is OFF) the current can still reach the Tx? Should I use another switch, or just put a Y split on the wires?
