Wiring a rechargeable pack to a transmitter

Is it possible? Could I use a 6 volt 1600 pack?

I just use rechargeable LID AA's. Decent AA's will have 2000mah+. I had to add a charge port to my spektrum dx3c as it didn't have one. I didn't feel like taking the cells out to charge them.
