anyone got any clues whats the best diff oils to use? I'm told that using the tamiya molybdnium grease is quite appropriate, but how much ? i get feeling I'm loading it way too much. when i turn the two hubs , i feel the gears meshing, but a new one doesnt feel so clunky. how does thicker diff oil effect the performance of the diff? what does thinner oil do in the diff? is thicker more of a diff lock effect? more even transfer of power to both axles with thicker? I know manual suggests filling to just above the spider gears axles, but that seems to be an oil... what weight oil??

lol lots of mixed questions, but its late, and I'm sorta wondering thats all...

it all depends on your application...are you a racer or just a basher?..for bashing..i run the thickest oil and grease mixture around for the rear...and i run 50,000 in the front...and yes fill them up to the cross pins.
The thicker the oil...the better the hook up will be for traction, and yes it will help your drive line from unloading so much when your turning and a tire comes off the ground.
